(8,659 posts)Maricopa County, AZ (Phoenix) narrowly voted for tRump in '16, but I doubt they willthis year.

(8,419 posts)Throw in Scottsdale, Sun City, and the outer burbs and the County was still red.
It was the ONLY one of the most populated top ten Counties. tRump won by three votes, less than 50k votes.

(8,419 posts)HRC won by 18. So I would assume that the city was also solid blue as more red votes would be coming from the inland and further north cities.
For laughs scroll down to San Francisco County! I'm not sure I have ever seen a gap that large.

(43,219 posts)Mainly because the city limits encompass both the urban core and the suburbs.
But all of Jacksonville/Duval County voted Democratic in the Senate and Governors races in 2018, and Biden has a decent lead in the polls there so far.
So Im not sure what large cities vote Republican anymore.

In It to Win It
(8,295 posts)The Democratic voting population tend not to turn out in local election, thus leading the county and city having Republican mayors.
Local elections here in South Florida take place on off years. The general rule applies in South Florida (and probably applies everywhere) that Dems don't really turn out for off year elections. I live in Broward County, which is has an overwhelming Dem-voting population. A depressed turn out in Broward would most likely still mean a Democratic candidate winning. Miami (and the entirety of Miami-Dade County) has a large Dem-voting population also that outnumber GOP voters, but there is a big enough GOP-voter base that a depressed Dem-voter turnout can mean a Republican winning. Generally, that's what happens in Miami. Just about every Presidential election the city and county votes blue.
Additionally, you don't hear much about the candidates or the elections when they do come. As an anecdote about myself, my first mayoral I voted in, I didn't even know it was taking place. I found out about it because I got my ballot in the mail.

Maybe, just maybe it's time for the protests to move to the sidewalks and streets outside these Hate Radio stations.
Maybe it's time to boycott their advertisers, local and national.
Maybe it's time we realize that this cancer is going to grow unless we do something.

(63,221 posts)pretty much empty space and empty space doesn't vote. I am so sick of hearing about what "middle America" wants and how we are ignoring their needs. Fuck them and their racist, narrow-minded bullshit.
We outnumber them and our government should be paying attention to OUR needs. Not THEIR hate, or thier guns, or thier religious bullshit or thier abject stupidity about every topic under the sun. I am tired of being dominated by a minority of evil, hateful morons simply because they are more aggressive and violent than we are.
It is time that we, the majority, take this country back for ourselves. They can all go burn in hell for all I care.

(54,448 posts)OK, only 35 people live there, and the place is fictitious in the first place. But everyone who lives there is positive that any place reporting a bigger population is a liberal hoax. Besides, Trump praised the African country of Nambia before the UN, and it is fictitious, too, so there is precedent for this.
