http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/09/22/3016048/city-gave-to-accused-boletera.html*** This is about a practice in Florida where absentee ballots are sold for cash. This has tipped many elections and is fairly easy to pull off. Something to watch for in November.

Emelina Llanes seems to be a woman with luck. Lots of luck.
The Hialeah activist, whom two former city police officers say is a prominent boletera, received city funds on two occasions, totaling $58,000 money meant to help poor residents with home repairs.
The current value of Llanes West Hialeah town house is $96,000.
Llanes received the money, in 1996 and in 2007, when she was a loyal volunteer in the campaigns of Mayors Raúl Martínez and Julio Robaina, she said. She denies that she was given the aid because of her political influence.
I had my house repaired, but I had to wait a long time for my turn just like anybody else, Llanes told El Nuevo Herald. I am a woman alone, a widow.
In the past five years, Llanes has been a fixture in several political campaigns in Hialeah for city, state and national office. Gov. Rick Scott paid her $5,000 for working on his 2010 campaign, according to campaign records.
But when interviewed last week, Llanes refused to explain what her job was in the governors campaign.
Anybody can give me a gift of $5,000, she said. Its nobodys business who gave them to me.
Later, she denied having received the payment.
I dont know anything about those $5,000, she said. Its too much money. With that money I can pay off half of my house. I havent received anything.

(39,316 posts)2. I am just learning about the selling of absentee ballots in Florida
Rep. Rivera is known to have won against Democrat Joe Garcia using this technique. It seems like standard practice! It would be nice if they could at least make a loose connection with Skeletor or Gov. Scott
