I saw Black Panther as one of about 6 white people (my coworkers) and a PACKED theater of my Black neighbors. There was a 6 year old sitting behind me who was SO invested in T'Challa, and his slightly older sister was reenacting Suri's scenes as they were leaving the theater. it was adorable and pure childhood magic. I ache for those kid today, juggling the pandemic, the shootings, and the protests. And now to lose a hero. It must be a blow to so many.

After JFK was assassinated, I remember that my 4-year-old brother was afraid to go to bed, and when my mother asked him why, he said he was afraid the man who killed President Kennedy would come and get him.
