Sort of a parody on the Kenny Rogers song, "The Gambler," but the melody seemed to fit the subject.

(9,130 posts)Gotta admit, when I first saw your headline, I
thought of a "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" parody.

(17,996 posts)He is going to fact check Trump at the debates. That should be fun.
DFW
(54,515 posts)He'll just say "whatever," go on to the next lie, and his fans will cheer him on.
Trump could say there are thirty hours in a day and forty days in a month, and his fans would cheer him on as if he had announced mandatory ten week vacations for everybody.
True Blue American
(17,996 posts)The voters who realize just how bad Trump is will agree.
Trump has become a laughing stock now and his hateful attacks on Joe are being answered by Joe himself. At this point it really does not matter what Trump thinks. It is what those who have watched him for 4 years think.
They even tuned out his speech at the Convention. Ratings fell.

(54,515 posts)That Biden will win the election is a given. That he will be able to take office is not.

(54,515 posts)But if you want to search, you have my blessings. It has been my experience that many of the creative things I do get hugely appreciated--after it's too late.
We had a superb satire stage show in NYC in 2008, tore the Republicans to shreds, and Howard wanted it as part of the Denver convention that nominated Obama. I talked to John Hickenlooper recently. He is now a candidate for Senate from Colorado, but he was mayor of Denver at the time, and convention chairman. He said that if he had known, he would have had our show featured prominently, but no one ever told him, and word from Howard never got to his desk.
And I'll bet you're right--I think the Biden campaign would love it. A friend of mine who is the former DNC Treasurer thought it struck just the right note.

(1,725 posts)...but more likely, is your phone getting texted 3 times a day by Team Biden? How about your email inbox? Hoo boy, I'm getting hammered by Joe, Kamala, Jill, Barack, Michelle, Tammy Duckworth, Buttigieg, Carol King (!), Khizr Khan, James Taylor! Lost count. If you're not, surely there's an email address that will go right to them. You could certainly tweet it to @JoeBiden !

(54,515 posts)I am on Central European Time and still work for a living. I look at mail on my laptop when I have time. I do indeed get bombarded with requests for money from everybody. Youd think someone told them all I was Bill Gatess richer uncle. I ignore them all usually. By this time I have sent checks to whom I want to send checks. I have no idea how to use Twitter, so I dont.

(3,636 posts)Being named "Roger Williams" I have been detained for "extra processing" about half the times I've tried to return to the country from overseas. On the last flight TSA check was at the airport in Montreal, and it was only the diligence of the Canadians watching the situation and holding my plane that kept me from missing my flight home. At that point I vowed I'd never fly in to the US from overseas again.
We did take another trip to Canada though, and this time we flew to Seattle, rented a car, and drove across the border. On our return the kid looked at our passports and asked "What's your relationship?"
"We're married."
"Well they haven't updated your wife's passport with her new name."
"That's because she didn't change her name. We got married in our forties. Didn't make any sense."
*BOGGLE* "You can do that?"
"You don't notice Angelina Jolie changing her name to Pitt recently, do you?"

"Oh." That did the trick.

A heavy one with fingerpicks, and a lighter one with just fingers in a simultaneous overdub.
Enjoyed the whole thread, especially hearing your voice.

(54,515 posts)The TSA Blues was one of those rare occasions where I was able to fly to Atlanta in the morning with just a set of lyrics and and idea, had most of the group in the studio at the same time, told them what I had in mind, and wrapped the piece four hours later. Every member of The Freedom Toast is a total professional (except me!). We had the basic tracks down in an hour, and our harmonica guy is a genius. I did the guitar tracks myself, vocal next to last, and some simple lead guitar for enhancement at the end. The mixing took a little longer, but I was still able to fly back to Dallas that evening with the final version of a piece no one had ever heard before, including the guys who played on it!
