(37,161 posts)2. Actually, that's out of date, but he is an Obama supporter...
From the latest post in his blog, dated 9/20/2012:
Grassroots Political Organizing for Obama
The Republicans have an 8 or 9 percent enthusiasm advantage in the Presidential election. The disaster in Egypt and Libya have cost the President polling points in foreign affairs.
Any of us who were beginning to coast better start peddling like hell.
AND THAT MEANS GRASSROOTS POLITICAL ORGANIZING.
This is one of the reasons I wrote the book Playing Bigger Than You Are: A Life in Organizing.
Here are a few things YOU can do right now in your home state:
- Identify your precinct
- Make a plan that will allow you to knock on every door at least twice before the election
- Unless Obama for America gives you one, prepare a 3 point positive reason to vote for Obama. For example: he saved the auto industry and millions of jobs, employment is going up, he killed Bin Laden and got tough on terrorism, he will save Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
- Sign up to volunteer in the phone bank and enjoy the pizza.
- If youre a union member, sign up for and do your unions internal political process.
- Romney is great at destroying jobs, Obama is great at creating jobs.
- After 4 years Obama has almost got the elephants crap cleaned up.
That statistic is THE REASON WE HAVE TO CLOSE THIS ELECTION USING ORGANIZING PRINCIPLES to win!

There was an implication recently that he was somehow anti-Obama. The post above (dated this past Thursday) does not support that implication.

(13,258 posts)4. Thanks for the update.
I read all the other as I was looking for material to link and I liked the "bumper sticker" sized subject line the best. Sorry it was outdated. I'm glad you added the additional information.

(37,161 posts)3. His current bio:
Stewart Acuff is Americas best-known and foremost labor organizer. He started union organizing in 1982 as the Service Employees International Union organizing coordinator in Texas where he and his team organized 12 nursing homes in two years. In 1985, Stewart Acuff went to Georgia where he founded SEIU Local 1985 and built the union up to 3000 members. In 1990, he became president of the Atlanta AFL-CIO where he organized and led the historic campaign to unionize the 1996 Olympics, labors biggest victory ever in the South. In 2000 he went to work for the national AFL-CIO. Stewart Acuff was organizing director from 2001-2008. Under his tenure the labor movement grew by more than it had in a generation. Stewart Acuff developed the policy and legislation which became the Employee Free Choice Act and led the campaign to pass it. Stewart Acuff then worked as Chief of Staff of the Utility Workers Union of America until May, 2012.

Can't stand knee jerk reactions in others and I'm very guilty of it myself.
Thanks for clarifying!!

I have to keep quite a bit of control over my own jerking knee. While I wait for it to calm down I go google. Sometimes that works for me.

Just listening to union organizer Stewart Acuff wrapping up that interview right now.
He is One Righteous Dude.
Hope that he gets plenty of good speaking gigs. He's seen a lot in his time! Very anti-bagger and Pro-Obama.

I couldn't get to the interview. I'll look around for an archive of it. If you happen to have a link handy, I'd appreciate you posting it here or via PM if you'd prefer.
