Tucker Carlson: Kamala Harris Will Deny You A COVID-19 Vaccine If Youre Not A Certain Color
Through the use of selective footage, the Fox News host claimed that Harris would apply affirmative action to coronavirus treatment.

The disparities that have long existed based on race are now highlighted, Harris said. So one of the things that Im calling for around this pandemic is that we make decisions about where the resources should go based on that issue.
Harris was referring to legislation she introduced to create a bipartisan commission that would investigate the U.S. response to the pandemic, including how it had disproportionately affected Black communities. She was also referencing a letter she sent to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), urging them to require the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to prioritize allocation of resources, like testing and PPE, to communities at greatest risk of COVID-19 due to underlying health problems, lack of access to health care and heightened exposure due to the nature of individuals work.

So we make decisions about where the resources should go to keep people from dying on the basis of skin color, Carlson said. So only people of a certain color get the vaccine, for example. Thats what shes arguing. Now, this is a lot of things. Its immoral. Its unconstitutional, obviously. But above all, it is definitely not moderate.
Carlson also honed in on a clip of Harris calling 18- to 24-year-olds stupid that has been also been used by the Trump campaign to discredit former Vice President Joe Biden and his running mate.

(47,419 posts)He's always been smug and obnoxious, but I don't remember him being this ludicrous when he was on CNN or MSNBC. It is like he has to say more and more outrageous things to keep an audience. Now he's just a cartoon character.

(14,856 posts)I would bet he rationalizes that it's the audience's fault if they take him seriously, when he's just playing a scripted character on a TV show.
I seem to recall Hannity, I think, once saying something to that effect. Basically, "We're not real news, we are more entertainment". Somehow, they think that makes them unaccountable for anything.
I remember Jeff Bridge's shock jock character in The Fisher King feeling profound guilt and regret after his show encouraged a mentally unhinged man to go into a restaurant and kill innocent people. I naively thought that most people would feel such guilt if their words caused pain, misery, and even death. It would appear that such remorse only happens in movies. These monsters will never take responsibility for anything they do.

(14,856 posts)They are editorial shows, offering opinions and commentary. It's not the same thing - although I suspect most of their audience don't really pick up on the difference.
PatSeg
(47,419 posts)editorial is synonymous with propaganda. It has gone way beyond opinions and commentary, it is often just wild fictitious ramblings. Anything to lure and hold an audience, but they know it is all just made up crap. It is like we are living in a parody of parody, hard to believe there are so many people who actually believe this malarkey (lately I find Joe's word comes in handy, so I don't have to say "shit" so often).
