I saw him ask about her heritage but I missed that comment. My dad was 1/4 iindian & my grandma was 1/2 indian. I don't have any documentation for it though. But I don't look indian either....lots of people don't look like they are from one minority or another but that's no reason to believe they're not!!

is 1/4 Cherokee. We used to joke that she tanned more walking to the beach than I did in a week.

Her daughter can barely sit out for an hour without getting red as a beet. She has 8 cousins, all but one is dark skinned. Two are naturally blonde and blue eyed

I can get a tan but I don't anymore just because I don't want skin cancer. My younger sister has light blonde hair & has always had fair skin. She burns pretty easily! Neither I nor my 2 sisters look indian....we all have fairly pale skin & all have some degree of blonde hair. My youngest sister has the lightest colored hair. Me & my older sister's hair has gotten darker, kind if a light brownish color.

In the future, Brown should play it safe when it comes to the subject of minorities & keep his mouth shut!

especially the reservations back east, or he'd know there are plenty of blonde, blue eyed people with tribal ancestry and some of whom were raised within the tribe and are very traditional. Even here in the west, there are occasional folks with hazel eyes and light hair.

A lot of folks that consider themselves Native culturally are mostly white because of centuries of inter-marriage. I have a former classmate who is descended from Metis and has a French surname, but identifies as Ojibwe.

I can't remember which reservation she was born on, but she married into my mom's family and I learned all about her culture when I was a kid. It led me to study indigenous cultures.
