That's like saying that White people can't look like Oompa-Loompas.

(842 posts)I don't have the exact wording, but his implication was that by checking "Native-American" on the application, she took the place of someone else who was "entitled" to admission. Yes, he said, "entitled".

Scott Brown can be stupid sometimes.

(19,841 posts)and nobody would guess. But you should see my father. Definitely LOOKS like a representative of the First Families of America.
Like Rachel said--in addition to the outright charge of stealing the place of a more worthy student --there's also the implication that there's something "wrong" about being of Native American descent...
Can you believe people in this country have sunk to this, this degree of divisiveness and hate-mongering? And they have no shame about using these tactics.

(20,819 posts)I live on an Indian reservation in the west and I've lived on two other reservations in the state (there are nine here altogether, same tribe), and very few native americans are actually full bloods anymore. The majority are mixed and there are many who don't look what we would consider to be "Indian" at all. But they're still Indian. What an ignorant, insulting idiot. Maybe he thinks women aren't really "women" unless they're wearing frilly lace dresses, either.

(759 posts)it's ironic, even though most mexicans have the indigenous gene expressions, they're ashamed/ill-informed of their indigenous background.... I'm glad, up here in the states, people including Elizabeth Warren are proud of their background (even if its 1/4, 1/8 or whatever)
Biblebeliever
(1 post)I visited with my Mormon side of the family in Utah and Idaho. They were very proud to say that "you only see white faces here"! If you read the Book of Mormons and their history, you will find all the answers that the Mormons won't be truthful and/or tell you about! They feel that if you are American Indian and you join them, your skin will turn lighter and then you are in their favor because they are curing you of the Curse and Mark of Cain, which they believe caused dark skin. The Bible does not say what the "Mark of Cain" looked like. Please read the Book of Mormons and history, then read The Bible. The Mormons also believe that as you work up in the Mormon Church, you become Gods and Goddesses. While I was with 25 Mormons, (four generations), they were the most haughty, disrespectful and against all dark races. They expressed "hate" towards anyone who weren't mormon. I ended up being a target, even though I'm blood related (but my skin is naturally dark and I'm not Mormon) I've been reading The Book of Mormons, they allow lies, misbeliefs, wrongful statements towards anyone or anything, because they are backed up and purified by their belief. Don't take the words out of a Mormon's mouth as their true belief because they try to hide it from all others. I was fooled for 50 years by their fake front, then I saw it first hand about a month ago. I was in shock! However, it certainly made me to do the smart thing and read directly from their Book of Mormons. However, be sure you go back to The Holy Bible to see what the Mormons have superseded it with. They continuously change and update the Book of Mormons to benefit and protect how they are perceived. My challenge to all of you is to go to the source and read up on their beliefs and history.

Just like everybody else, there are good Mormons and bad Mormons.
Other than that, please enjoy yourself around here.
