"Here's the heart of the one on evictions. As you can see, it doesn't create an eviction moratorium. It asks certain federal agencies to see if they can maybe do something on evictions."
"Here's the payroll tax one. It's a deferral. That means either employers will continue to withhold your payroll taxes and you won't see any difference, or they won't withhold (unlikely), and you'll have it all withheld from your paycheck when the deferral expires at year-end."

"Here is the key part of the unemployment insurance one.
*To be clear, the legal authority to do this is highly dubious.*
But, at best, it's a $300/week federal contribution redirecting money that, by my estimate, would cover about 4 weeks for the currently unemployed."

"On unemployment insurance, evictions, and on student loans, these orders and memoranda -- even if they are found legal -- provide far, far less relief than what Democrats provided in the HEROES Act that passed three months ago and has languished in the Senate ever since."

(82,849 posts)Cuts the $600 a week to $300, and obliges the states to come up with $100 on their own. Remember how Republicans used to yowl about unfunded mandates?

(10,273 posts)The night of the election, all of the GOP (win or lose, if BIDEN wins) will include language in their speeches about:
The huge deficit
Big government evil spending
Only wall street can kick start the economy (so cut their taxes)
Our kids will have to pay off the National Debt
Means testing social security/medicare (yes, we will be back to that bullshit again).
BiPartisan whatever
need to move forward (means please dont punish us for the fucking crimes we committed--AGAIN)
What you WONT hear:
Trump is bad.
Democratic Party mandate cause we got our asses kicked.
How much trump spent on golf
Kids in cages (cause maybe if we dont say anything, peeps will just forget to let them out)
Add Your Own.
The entire evening will be about how we need to just kinda ignore the last 4 years as a crazy fluke, and not prosecute them. Ignore their pleas for mercy. Those pleas can be made in front of a fucking federal judge this time.

Garfield Goose actually puts his dick in the dirt and made a much better King of the United States.
Trump is now like a helium balloon tied to flying pigs held down by 16-ton weights that they keep pasting ridiculous, surreal posters on with wallpaper paste, (Eric's favorite treat) in order to make the reality TV script seem more real.
That's what I call real desperation and fear of defeat. Knowing you could be defeated because your party totally sucks big donkey balls and more people are catching onto the illusion of the big lies must really inspire their inner demons to want to puke up green pea soup and slather blasphemies on America as per the Exorcist. It seems we need one right now, BTW

(7,463 posts)Anyone making less than $100/week on UE gets *nothing* extra and supposedly if states don't cough up their $100 portion out of the $400, their residents get nothing.

(7,403 posts)Item 4 speaks of seeking a forgiveness on repaying the payroll tax. If the employer does not withhold payroll taxes on the employee contribution there will be tremendous pressure to pass a forgiveness law, otherwise the employees will be hit in one month for 4 months taxes. Since this doesn't take effect until September 1st we should have a law passed by then. I will agree that this is a sinister way to go about suspending the employee payroll tax. More troubling is the promise after the first of the year to reduce the payroll tax which will force the reduction in benefits for current seniors and people receiving disability payments. But the problem with the program from the start is that only currently employed people will get the benefit so it will not help the truly needy people that lost their job pay the bills so they will face eviction or loss of their home because they couldn't keep up the payments. It is a bad policy no matter how it is cobbled together.
