(13,186 posts)It scared the Bejeezus out of me when I was a kid. Here's the poem from The Omen, written by a fictional character in the movie (or probably by David Seltzer as the script/novel writer).
"When the Jews return to Zion and a comet fills the sky, and the Holy Roman Empire rises; then you and I must die. From the eternal sea he rises, creating armies on either shore, turning man against his brother, 'til man exists no more."
And we just had a freakin' comet, Neowise. Kind of trippy. What would the Holy Roman Empire be, though?
I think the Antichrist in the Bible was probably Nero, and I'm not really given to trusting prophecy, seeing it mainly as either foresight (when true) or hindsight (when we detect a spooky, coincidental parallel with a previous statement). It's not that I disbelieve in prophecy, though. Not at all. It could be. This world is strange.
Trump could be a radar echo or warning of the Jungian Antichrist, in the sense of the opposite of Christ. And looking forward at the potential course of the next few months, it's not hard to be scared of just how far he and his Republican accomplices will try to go.
