Trump Team Calls Biden A ‘Very Good Debater’ As They Desperately Try To Lower Own Expectations


After spending much of the campaign trying – and failing – to paint Joe Biden as senile and off his game, the Trump team now claims the former vice president is a skilled debater.

“Joe Biden is actually a very good debater. He doesn’t have as many gaffes as he does in his everyday interviews,” said Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller, according to The Washington Post.

“I would make the argument that Joe Biden would even be the favorite in the debates since he’s been doing them for 47 years,” Miller added.

The new comments are a rather remarkable shift for the Trump campaign, which has been claiming that Biden won’t even participate in all three debates ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

Biden, of course, already pledged in June that he would attend all three of the scheduled debates with Trump. As The Post pointed out, Trump only made that same commitment this past Thursday.

One indication that a presidential campaign is losing – besides polling – is when it starts throwing public tantrums about debate rules, as the Trump team has been doing.

They bit themselves in the butt when they started this “Joe has dementia” line of attack after forgetting that their guy can’t string together a sentence of more than 3 words.

Someone must have noticed their orange ubergraper was a few cards short of a full deck and the panic is setting in.

I’d have loved to be at that meeting:

“Hey guys? You know how we’ve been putting out there that Biden is senile? Did you know our guy just tied his shoes to his tie...and to his hair? And that he’s in the corner eating paste? With shoe polish? Did you know that he has to debate Biden too? We might be boned on this guys. “

3. I Can't Believe That Trump's Team Has Even Asked For A Fourth Debate.....

Biden is a man that has spent most of his adult life in the public eye. In his political career he's seen it all. He's was a well respected Senator and served many years and on many a Senate committee. He spent 8 years as President Obama's Vice President.

How could anyone think that Donald Trump - a pathological liar - that stumbled his way into the presidency and spent the bulk of his presidency on a golf course - could even hold a candle to Biden?

Just thinking about the debates - I imagine that it would be a complete mis-match.

Biden has the depth of his years of service in the political arena. Trump has his warped sense of politics and a conspiratorial mindset.

I got to think that in most every topic that would come up in a debate that Biden would run circles around Trump.

All Trump will be able to do is make things up; lie and take cheap shots at Biden. Why would Trump's campaign handlers even want Trump to be subject to debates?

6. Trump's campaign is in total free fall

They know it and we know it. That doesn't mean letting up on the pressure, only that the pressure is cracking the veneer and the inner circle.

First, they've spent considerable time trying to convince the electorate that Biden is senile, ravaged by mental dysfunction. Now? Biden is a seasoned debater who has an unfair advantage. This is a throw spaghetti at the wall moment as was last night's so-called press conference with a bunch of disinterested country club members where Trump pretended to be King of the Hill spouting Executive Order intentions. It was also another moment to deride the press while desperately trying to conjure up more attention.

The silly argument over a 4th debate (I think) was an attempt to back out of all debates. The Person-Woman-Man-Camera-TV candidate is flailing in all directions. The more he opens his pie-hole, the more votes he loses.
