The correct response to Sen. Cornyn's statement

Yes, it's truly awful that Texas taxpayers are paying you with three government pensions and a government paycheck to do absolutely nothing in the Senate right now.

Sen. John Cornyn: "The federal government is paying people not to work -- that's the wrong incentive."

If you are unemployed and employment is offered to you, don't you lose your unemployment check if you refuse? Thank you.

During normal times, you are expected to look for work and make a certain number of applications per week. You report the contacts you made to your state workforce commission and they can check that those contacts were made. If you get a job offer, you're supposed to report that too.

But here's the thing. What if you have asthma and your Trump loving boss calls you back to work. You go in to see if proper measures are being taken to protect your health and they AREN'T. Do you go back to work even though you're risking your health?

Don't get me wrong. I'm sure that some folks are treating their time being unemployed as a paid vacation, but to employers, a gap in your resume is bad, no matter how legitimate the reason. The longer you are out of work, FOR ANY REASON, the harder it is to get re-employed. Believe me. I've been there.
