I sometimes think sites like Daily Caller and Breitbart exist to make conservative sites like Politico seem middle of the road or unbiased.
They are clearlt amping the rhetoric afainst Biden and acting essentially as part of the GOP/Trump campaign.
EDITED to add short clip of article since I refuse to link it:
Elsewhere in Biden's interview with the journalism associations, Biden bristled at a reporter's question about whether he has taken a cognitive test akin to the one Trump has bragged about acing. Biden replied to the question from CBS News correspondent Errol Barnett, who is Black, by saying That's like saying to you, before you got on this program if you had taken a test were you taking cocaine or not. What do you think, huh? Are you a junkie?"
Biden's campaign defended those comments by calling Barnett's question "preposterous" and "deserving of a response that showed the absurdity of it all."
Biden also drew criticism last May for saying that "you ain't Black" if "you have a problem figuring out whether youre for me or Trump." The Democratic candidate made the remarks during an interview with The Breakfast Club, a nationally syndicated radio show, and later apologized for the remark.

(1,656 posts)just a horrible hit piece which used things like Biden's comment that a lit of black people around the nation are motivated politically by the same issues whereas Latinx population has more diverse concerns based on region (Florida it may be Cuba relations, Arizona it may be immigration issues, etc etc)

(14,971 posts)VP candidates. It's all clickbait . They're just trying to get visitors to their site. They don't like it when one candidate is polling far ahead of another because they want the horse race.

They have at least one bitter "journalist" who was all-in for another candidate OTHER than Biden, and her resentment and disappointment is so overwhelming that she appears to be fixated on doing everything possible to kneecap Biden. Whether it's another "Democrats in Disarray" story, or anonymous sources with lies and innuendo about Biden, the agenda is clear: To create distrust and resentment among Democrats; and to stoke the anger and disappointment of others who didn't originally support Biden; and to amplify the differences.
Politico has very low standards, and it shows in the absolutely dreadful (so-called) nickel-a-word "journalists" they pay. They've turned to trash. Worse than H.A. Goodman.

(12,712 posts)Analysis / Bias
Both sides of the political spectrum have accused Politico of either having a left or right bias. For example, Media Matters for America, a progressive media watchdog group in Washington, has accused them of having a Republican tilt. Politico also published an article criticizing Obama for not being a strong supporter of Israel: Obamas Jewish Problem. In another article they state that Liberals are not as tolerant as they say they are: Why Liberals Arent as Tolerant as They Think. Further, here is an article criticizing Democratic Socialism: Down Goes Socialism and another criticizing Bernie Sanders, Bernies army in disarray. Lastly, according to the Poynter Institute, Politico is balanced.
The right leaning Daily Caller has also criticized Politico for having a liberal bias when they compared a New York Times headline to Politicos Playbook headline, by claiming that it Extended further to the left than the NYT on this headline.
A 2014 Pew Research Survey found that 59% of Politicos audience is consistently or mostly liberal, 16% Mixed and 26% consistently or mostly conservative. This indicates that Politico is preferred by a more liberal audience.
In review, Politico occasionally publishes listicles such as All of Trumps Russia Ties, in 7 Charts. They also publish articles with minimally loaded words such as Ocasio-Cortez warns Trump Jr. about subpoena power in response to meme, and they source to credible media outlets such as Reuters and the NY Times. However, they sometimes do use emotional headlines such as this: Establishment looks to crush liberals on Medicare for All.
Editorially, they provide a balance of opinions as evidenced by the criticism they have received from both sides. Further, their news articles tend to be balanced through covering both sides and counterpoints to the story they are reporting on.
A factual search reveals they have not failed a fact check.
Overall, we rate Politico Least Biased based on balanced coverage of news stories and High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing and a clean fact check record. (5/18/2016) Updated (M. Huitsing 10/07/2019)

(12,712 posts)Well, I didn't provide it to make any particular point at all and have no opinion along those lines and I don't read Politico.
However, I find "that site" to be very useful and accurate in most cases and recommend it highly. Maybe you can find or recommend a meta-fact-check-bias site that checks the media bias fact check sites that will underscore your negative assessment?
Opinions vary. Thanks.

Well, if you ever find something better, do post about it. I am sure you would agree that we do need ways to accurately assesses sites now and it also helps us to point out the biases and mixing of sketchy info with regular, accurate reporting. That's the tactic for many sites that have foreign influences.
What is great about Media Bias/Fact Check is that you get a rundown on who owns the site and its connections to various groups, figures and countries. It has helped me bring that to the attention of people who have sent me links that I find questionable and have responded to so that they can see for themselves and not just rely on my bias and opinions. That's useful.

To be fair, though, I have read a few good articles that were posted here on DU.
