Russia is attacking us and @HouseGOP @SenateGOP are too busy running interference for Kremlin instead of protecting America and punishing Russia w sanctions/other means. They are creating a very dangerous situation by allowing Putin to operate unchecked

Snip

A new government report avoids direct discussion of American election interference by Moscow, despite lawmakers’ call for more information.

The report is one of the most detailed explanations yet from the Trump administration on how Russia disseminates disinformation, but it largely avoids discussing how Moscow is trying to influence the current campaign. Even as Democrats on Capitol Hill have urged the American government to declassify more information on Russia’s efforts to interfere with the election, President Trump has repeatedly told officials such disclosures are unwelcome.

Most of the report focuses on an ecosystem of websites, many of them fringe or conspiracy minded, that Russia has used or directed to spread propaganda on a variety of topics. Those include an online journal called the Strategic Culture Foundation and other sites, like the Canada-based Global Research. The document builds on information disclosed last week by American officials about Russian intelligence’s control of various propaganda sites.

The crux of this season was about a RW hi-tech Bot operation employing many coordinated websites to attack the newly elected POTUS. It really had me thinking that it is scary close to exactly how the Russians are destabilizing our democracy.

on the fox/right/republican talking points. They seldom disappoint on picking up and repeating the KGB narrative. The downside is that it's so disgusting I can hardly stand to check often.

Back in the bad old DU days for Russian influence from 2011-2016, Global Research was often cited here, and it had quite a sway over both naive posters and more than a few who knew better. I'm grateful that it was finally banned and anyone referencing them is jumped on.

The whole KGB operation uses these sites and its English/US writers to polish the ideals and edit the vernacular. From there it spreads to twitter/trolls/and US conspiracy sites who modify it, finally arriving at fox ready for an audience and political talking point. Sometimes the process only takes a couple of days.

And that's why people who think they can ID all Russian trolls by awkward spelling and grammar are wrong. Those are just the low-paid squirrels.
