(102,419 posts)The pandemic spread would become more focal, but in the scenarios above, it would continue to pop up and render the virus difficult (or impossible) to eradicate.

What to Expect
As the coronavirus keeps spreading around the world, it will probably keep changing. Experts may find new strains. Its impossible to predict how those virus changes might affect what happens. But change is just what viruses do.
From CDC

Common human coronaviruses, including types 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1, usually cause mild to moderate upper-respiratory tract illnesses, like the common cold. Most people get infected with one or more of these viruses at some point in their lives. This information applies to common human coronaviruses and should not be confused with coronavirus disease 2019 (formerly referred to as 2019 Novel Coronavirus).
Unless & until everyone follows the guidelines perfectly, Covid18 is here to stay.
Im not optimistic about a life lasting vaccine. More like a flu shot or series if flu shots can mitigate organ damaging outcomes 🤞. This seems to be a consensus conclusion to date. But we are just beginning to learn about horrible virus

... The key difference between coronavirus and influenza is that coronavirus is positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus that causes illnesses ranging from common cold and pneumonia to severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) while influenza virus is a negative-sense single-stranded RNA virus that causes seasonal flu epidemics each year...
Face masks & maybe face shields are our new normal if we want to minimize Covid19 & any new HUGELY contagious viruses The sooner we accept this, the sooner normal activities can commence.
It will be a miracle if world wide herd immunity occurs. Viruses 🦠 are very adaptable & change just like the annual flu shot has to change.
