At just under 5 sec/mile, that's 5-6 miles away. Because the initial shock wave can be supersonic, that's probably an overestimate.

The window at the Mediterranean coast and saw the most perfect little cove, shiny turquoise water...still on my list of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. That's where I learned how to eat an egg in its shell. Tragic that it's been ruined for decades now. Sickening.
