"It is coming, and it's coming like a freight train."

When the Australian journalist interviewing Trump pointed out that the US has the highest number of covid-19 deaths per capita in the world, Trump replied: "You can't do that."

The 3 Worst Moments From Trump’s Newest Axios Interview

It was a sweeping conversation with Axios’ Jonathan Swan that produced a string of jaw-dropping and maddening moments. But even in the long list of appalling remarks from the president, the worst exchanges are likely to be remembered as these.

“You can’t do that.”

In a heated back and forth, Trump and Swan sparred over the best statistics to assess the United States’ response to the coronavirus pandemic. Trump falsely asserted that US deaths from the virus are “lower” than anywhere in the world, rifling through a disorganized stack of printed charts to somehow back the absurd claim. “Lower than the world? In what?” Swan asked.

Glancing at the charts Trump was referencing, Swan said, “You’re doing death as a proportion of cases. I’m talking about death as a proportion of the population.”

“You can’t do that,” an outraged Trump replied.

like the marker and covfefe ....

Doesn’t matter what the charts said, it was his “shownanship” that apparently won the day since the charts are the seeming highlight. As was intended.

At this point it would be surprising if Trump DIDN’T stunt during any tough exchange.

The real question is why aren’t people more prepared for inevitable?

I suspect it took Trump a good half hour of squinting at those charts while someone explained them to him, and he still didn't have a good grasp on what they said. But being who he is, he figured he'd baffle Swan with bullshit because he didn't think Swan could get the gist of those charts any faster. Wrong. Swan barely glanced at the charts and figured out they were skewed to favor Trump's preferred narrative. So Swan presented another interpretation, deaths per capita rather than deaths per test. Trump's grade school persona blurted out "You can't do that" without any forethought. Swan blew that apart with two words, "Why not?"

Under his "reign" the Covid-19 pandemic will only get worse.

Why? Because he doesn't understand simple science, math, or statistics; and he doesn't know how to delegate or manage effectively. If he happened to hire someone who was successful at combating the virus, he would fire that person for "stealing his spotlight."

He is hopeless, helpless, careless, and reckless.
