When the Republicans controlled the House, they spent TWO YEARS conducting a BENGHAZI!!1!!! investigation over four Americans killed.
When Joe Biden is President, and we have a REAL Justice Department again...one that will actually ENFORCE subpoenas...we'll have to investigate 150,000 plus dead Americans due to corruption and incompetence of the Trump Administration and all its ENABLERS. I want everyone from Jared Kushner to Sean Hannity dragged onto the House floor, and spanked by Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff.
Pro-rated to Benghazi units, this inquiry should only last about...(150,000/4)X2= 75,000 years.
But I'd settle for a FOUR year investigation. No more of this horseshit with Democrats playing by Marquess of Queensburry boxing rules while Republicans are using switchblades and brass knuckles.

(5,954 posts)We're doing it on the principle that, if bad behaviour isn't punished, you're just encouraging more of it. That there must be CONSEQUENCES for this kind of behaviour. We could even introduce a formula on the punishment for bad behaviour. "You STOLE a SCOTUS seat from Obama, and appointed a second one by eliminating the filibuster on SCOTUS appointments. You stole TWO seats on the SCOTUS, therefore we're going to appoint THREE new Justices to the supreme court (making it 12). And we're going to do that EVERY TIME you pull something like that. It's nothing personal. It's just business."
So, the punitive measures would be:
--Add more SCOTUS Justices (And introduce an amendment on term limits for SCOTUS Justices.)
--Impeach Justice Thomas for 20 years of tax evasion, and impeach Justice Kavanaugh for lying during his Senate hearing.
--STATEHOOD for Puerto Rico and Washington DC
--Send about 5 billion dollars in military equipment to Ukraine, and have the Army stencil the numbers 2016 on every piece of equipment so that Putin knows exactly why they're getting it.
--Make ELECTION DAY a national holiday, and mandate paper ballots (no more crooked voting machines)
--Introduce a TAX on political contributions over $1000, and use the money to hire more polling personnel and optical scanners for elections. (Let's see if the Koch's like having their billion dollar contributions to the Republican Party go to increasing the number of polling stations in poor districts.)
---Fix the USPS, and also make post offices serve as election polling stations during elections. That way, the next time Republicans try to mass with the Post Office, it'll be clear they're also trying to mess with democracy.

I understand your list is about punitive measures,
but adding these 2 would also be punitive for trying
so hard to eliminate both.
Making each stronger, will pi$$ off the (R)'s

Biden needs to make the changes that will never allow another tRump to happen. We owe this Nation that more than getting even.

IF ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD DESERVES INVESTIGATION AND METED OUT JUSTICE it is the TRUMP Presidency.
We cannot let these injustices go unpunished or it would prove there are two justice systems one for the poor common people and one for the rich and powerful.

(10,190 posts)"we must move forward, not look back," and allow Trump's actions to go uninvestigated and unpunished. Voters will forgive the Democrats anything, but if they go down that road in 2021, there will be hell to pay.

(15,646 posts)ideological way or threatens their white male supremacy; people who, in effect, are perfectly okay with killing off what is likely to be 2 or 3 hundred thousand working class people in order to maintain a profitable economy before this pandemic is behind us; people and a party that has obviously been hell bent on this agenda for several decades now, at least to anyone who has been fully paying attention.
If and when we regain the WH and the Senate, does anyone here believe a prudent response would be to turn the other cheek, to look and move forward rather than backward, to put holding those accountable for crimes committed and lives lost or ruined by gross, if not intentional, neglect on the back burner?
Would that be a wise choice? Can we trust the Republican Party will have learned a lesson that in the end will benefit us all? All people regardless of color, persuasion, status or belief? Would it be wise to have faith in that?

They are culpable for playing politics with people's lives and showing a depraved indifference (an element of the crime) which is easy to prove.
The advantage is that those will be state crimes and cannot be pardoned by the orange jabba-the-person-man-woman-camera-tv.

(199 posts)A lot of time an effort has been spent on investigating "Benghazi", and still get's brought up. I hope that the bounty on American service members lives gets the same amount of attention. I don't think it will, but it is a far more serious issue than Benghazi, and the current Secretary of State has not handled the issue (either well, or at all).
In some ways I would love to see the issue handled the same way Benghazi was (endless hearings, endless trial in the press), and since we have a "Reality Show" president in charge, let's add some typical commentary about the members of the show. That would be exactly what "The Donald" would want. Just think of the Ratings! They would be Huge and Beautiful!
