FOR MICROWAVE OVEN: Remove from package and place on paper-lined microwave-proof plate. Microwave at full power for appropriate time: 1 doughnut: 8 seconds, 2 doughnuts: 12 seconds, 4 doughnuts: 20 seconds."
I found these heating instructions on Krispy Kreme's packaging at my local grocer.

(9,998 posts)He should pick the person he's most compatible with. Someone who can have the same type of relationship with him, as he had with President Obama.
If that person had been Warren, then that's who he should have picked. If it had been Klobuchar, then same thing.
Just because people expect that he will pick a black female, doesn't mean he will. And if that costs him support, then those people really don't care about getting rid of Drumpf as they claim.
Tammy would be a fine choice.

(36,469 posts)But truth be told, California is front loaded with eminently qualified people.
Schiff's district is reasonably secure, so that's a plus.
I have reason to believe Kamala Harris would put the buzz in Gavin Newsom's ear that Katie Porter is totally up to the job and would deliver in spades. Unfortunately Porter's district would probably flip back.
I would be happy with Ted Leiu, but like I said, there is a boatload eminently qualified people to consider.
Hell, even Xavier Becerra, California's Attorney General, and former congressman, could kick ass, and his job would essentially be finished with the orange anus's departure.
It's going to be fun speculating what our governor will do.

(9,998 posts)I bought a Biden/Harris 2020 shirt in March 2019. Wore it to New Orleans Jazz Fest, and had lots of people coming up to me and saying that sounded like a great ticket.
I just think that Biden could pull an audible, so to speak, and shock everyone at the last minute, and if he did that, Tammy seems like a likely choice.
Up until a few months ago, the field was wide open. There was no certainty that he was going to pick someone black. Sure, things are different post-George Floyd, but it still should not change his desire to pick someone he trusts and feels compatible with.
Harris probably fits that bill, but for all we know, so does Tammy. And she opens up the Military vote, and as has been said, would at the very least, put Drumpf in the position of having to attack a Wounded War Hero. That could very well backfire in 2020.

(17,865 posts)I never understood why it mattered where Obama was born given his mother was a US citizen (of course he was born in Hawaii anyway).
I think that being born out of the country only matters if your parents are POC. That is the only pattern I can detect. There was a barely a whisper about McCain and I don't think any comment about George Romney or Ted Cruz.

(50,310 posts)going to be facing the Covid clusterfuck as well as a myriad of other Trump-related debacles. I don't know how Duckworth fits into that niche, but I remember Kamala Harris had a terribly disorganized primary campaign. Susan Rice is probably very organized and analytical, but I see her more as Secretary of State or Supreme Court justice. I don't know if we're getting the real info on finalists, but my top 2 are still Abrams and Demings. That said, I don't how they fit into my organization criteria either.
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)That typically is a mistake, you need to mix battle scared veterans with newbies. Harris is amazingly well organized in Senate hearings, that shows that she prepares instead of winging it.
I believe you vastly over-rate the VP role. The President will assign the VP specific tasks, like President Obama did with Biden, the truly important factor is the capability of the VPs staff, Harris would need to seed her staff with old hands that know the insides and outs of Washington DC and the states, then mix in a lot of energetic, smart newbies. Her key would be in finding people that can work collaboratively to achieve goals, no outsized egos that need massaging.

(31,261 posts)At one point before he took office, the world came within a few hours of total financial meltdown, worldwide.
The fact is, the economy wont get fixed until SARS-COV-2 is brought under control, either via a vaccine, a cure or common sense things like wearing face masks properly, social distancing where possible and proper hygiene as that pertain to the virus. So, in my way of seeing things, the situation boils down to Joe placing focus on one thing, corralling the virus, the rest follows from that. The Secretary of State will actually be more important than the Vice President, because the SOS would need to rebuild badly damaged relationships with allies AND develop a verification based relationship with China when it comes to progress against the virus.
Mike 03
(16,616 posts)That would free up Susan Rice to be Secretary of State, and keep Harris in the senate where she's a superstar.

(7,220 posts)-She'll bring in the military vote (the military has so many reasons to hate Drumph by now)
-She's Asian-American and can address racism (starting with this "China Virus" bullshit)
-She's no-bullshit and tough as nails (and we need someone who can tear Drumph a new a-hole and enjoy doing it)
-A decorated Iraq war vet (this helps overcome some of the inherent misogyny America still suffers from)
Rice would be a very good choice (prepare to hear non-stop "Benghazi" for the next 3 months though.) I'd tap her as secretary of state, that's where her foreign policy chops can be put to excellent use.
Harris would also be excellent. But being from CA is not so palatable to pretty much everyone not living in a coastal state. (I say this as a born and raised Californian.) I'd sure love to see her as the attorney general who prosecutes Drumph and Barr though (among many others!). LOCK HIM UP!!
Of course, like everyone here, I'll be supporting whomever Biden picks full-throatedly. But I'm SO excited about Duckworth!
Bayard
(22,168 posts)I don't think there's much rethuglicans can hit her on--especially President Bone Spurs. Would love to see her squash Pence like a bug in a debate.
An important point is that Duckworth could help bring in the Midwest. Joe will already have Calif, so don't see Harris being an asset there.
I saw Rep. Jim Clyburn interviewed over the weekend. He has backed off saying the VP must be a black woman. Now, he just says it needs to be a woman.
Susan Rice would be a good choice for SOS. Either Kamala Harris, or Adam Schiff, would be excellent choices for AG.
