https://www.rawstory.com/2020/08/the-lincoln-project-ads-are-derailing-trumps-re-election-campaign/On Saturday, The Guardian profiled The Lincoln Project the group of disaffected Republican strategists who have turned against their former party and are releasing a string of needling ads attacking President Donald Trump.
In their launch manifesto, published as a column in the New York Times, the founders said their goal was defeating President Trump and Trumpism at the ballot box, including his Republican supporters in Congress, reported Richard Wolffe. To that end, they said their efforts were about persuading enough disaffected conservatives, Republicans and Republican-leaning independents in swing states and districts to defeat Trump and elect congressional majorities opposed to Trumpism.
According to executive director Sarah Lenti, one of the ways this is accomplished is by sharing testimonials from anti-Trump Republicans up and down the ballot, who GOP voters respect and listen to in the hope that just enough of them will be persuaded against Trump to cost him the election. But another big part of the strategy, she said, is to provoke Trump himself into melting down until the voters tire of him.
Some of these ads have an audience of one, she said. Thats always been part of the strategy. Because every time he gets off message, spewing grievances, hes not campaigning. The idea is to get him off message again and again and again. It bothers him. We hear from people inside the White House that he wants them to make us go away. But were not going away.

(81,298 posts)Its been nice NOT hearing from her. Shes a one-woman turn-off. A walking talking buzz kill. She doesnt help the cause. She seems to delight in kicking it, and us Dems, in the teeth. I keep wondering what on earth we did to her that shes become such a disrupter! Its the Democratic Party thats set up to deliver more of what she wants (or says she wants), in the first place, for Petes sake! Her wish list wouldnt have a prayer with the GOP.

(23,239 posts)In Viet Nam, it was Ben Tre. Here, in these times, it's tRumpski himself, and his cult of Kool-Aid drinkers, Klansmen, and neo-Nazis that must be obliterated, and not just electorally. Their defeat must be so cataclysmic that the few left will ooze away and die in the wilderness, with no stones marking their graves. Then, perhaps, an actual opposition party that can actually govern can be tolerated.

(45,447 posts)that's when I knew it was working. Douchebag's margins were so low that a few voters can make a massive difference. People always think of the worst deplorables but don't think as much about the more normal voters whose support was very soft to begin with.
Supposedly Biden can flip some swing voters back to blue. So having both the Lincoln Project and Biden should be make a significant difference.

(1,259 posts)I am impressed with their abilities and talents, can anyone recall if the Dems have had an equivalent cabal of media gurus and ad makers who know where to hit their candidate where it hurts?
Or is it more that Trump gives them great material to work with?
The Lincoln Project ads are very compelling, with the exception of the Biden campaign ad "Faith" I am not sure if I have seen anything better produced by the Biden campaign.
