(16,460 posts)Id love their strong increase in the US. That strong increase is a bad couple of hours here.

(65,191 posts)You're right. What they call a strong increase is something we wish for.
The 7 day moving averages of cases is 650.
The have 83 million people. Roughly 8 cases per million people.
The US equivalent would he 2,600 cases. We had more than 54.6k today.
Yes, there are buffoons in that pic, but they're doing 20x what we're doing.

(5 posts)And what kind of "freedom" do you get in Germany by not wearing a mask? Apparently, the freedom to die a quicker death.

(34,092 posts)But I'm not sure what's going on yet qualifies as a strong increase in new cases.
From July 3 - July 29 the new daily cases were relatively stable, ranging between 5900 and 7000. The last three days have taken an upturn (with three in a row above 7000). I don't usually call a change in trends until it hits 3 days. So I'd be confident saynig Germany has switched from stable to increasing, but I wouldn't go out on a limb yet by calling it a strong increase.
But . . . with this event - it will soon be stong.

(90,824 posts)I know the entire world is not nuts, but enough of them are. This is very, very bad.
Im 72. I want to live through this and see the other side. Even more than that, I want my adult kids and young grandkids to live and thrive. But an individual doesnt get to make that kind of bargain, as forcefully hit home to me when my teenage son had a devastating bike accident, and many years later when my baby granddaughter died of SIDS: there is just no bargain like that.
This is horrible. Trump is making it a thousand times worse than it has to be on the US but the same nuts are at work elsewhere.

(90,364 posts)... million and I'm doubling Germany's number right now plus 1.
Trump tried this shit yesterday, the "spikes" in other countries are not like the outbreaks here in the US
300% increase in Germany would be 24 cases per 1 million which would be 2,000 day ... we have that in Arizona !!!
