I'm still not able to figure this Romney fellow out...

He has the entire plutocracy behind him. Real money. Powerful people. Surely he can hire the best media consultants and campaign advisers in the country. And don't tell me there aren't any on the Red side, there certainly are. This should be the very epitome of a modern, well funded (limitless really), new century campaign! But its one PR nightmare after another. Why?

But it can't be this easy. I don't trust them - I remember Rove. So I figure there's something up their sleeves, and we're all going to be slapping our foreheads at or right after the RNC convention. Then he selects that asshole Ryan as his running mate. Looks like they want to make up with the Teabaggers and reform the troops. Uh oh. This is could be a problem. Obama is disliked by the troops already, and if they get motivated to vote like they did for 43 - look out!! But Ryan has done nothing for the ticket that I can see. In fact, Romney was down by 3 points in Wisconsin before he tapped Ryan, and I saw this morning that now he's down 14. That's Ryan's state. His selection of Ryan lost him favor in Ryan's home state? WTF?

I'm not buying that he really doesn't want to win.

I'm not buying that there is a fix in. Maybe, but even then they still need to keep it close -- you can't steal a landslide. But they're just pissin' the contest away with gaffe after policy blunder after secret recording.

But the bronzer story??? Damn, folks. Maybe that's evidence of the real answer. Maybe Romney REALLY IS a total and complete moron, and maybe he has surrounded himself with total and complete morons. Maybe the grey haired plutosaurs who are investing in his candidacy are actually formulating or at least influencing his strategies, and that's why the campaign seem outdated and retro - like its straight out of the Goldwater/Nixon era. Because.... TO ACTUALLY THINK THAT IT WOULD HELP TO LOOK BROWNER WHEN HE'S TALKING TO BROWN PEOPLE !!!??? ---- that's like the bet Mortimer and Randolph Duke made!!! It's comically stupid! It's almost beyond comprehension. Wow.

He is more inept than Palin. Don't try to figure him out. You'll hurt yourself.

This is the GOP imploding. They will be a long time recovering from Palin and Romney.

The general word of mouth is Mitt Romney does listen to his people he hires. That is the CEO mentality. He is in charge and their job is to do what he tells them, not the other way around. He doesn't understand they are the experts and he's a guy that won one political office ever. This campaign isn't about how bad his staff is, it's about WHY THE CEO MENTALITY fails time and time again in American politics.

With a tin ear. And very micromanaging in his own campaign. He didn't use any of one speech and not much of another written for the RNC. He is doing this to himself because he is an awkward, unlikable man who looks down on others that are not like him. He can't charm his views to the media or the public, like W. did until the public wised up too late (2005). He is quite frankly, a terrible candidate. He can't explain his views because all he really craves is money and power.

It's that Mitt REFUSES to fire any of his key advisors and makes too many of the decisions himself, ignoring saner advice at times. Ryan is the prime example of that. Pawlenty would have been a "safe" choice, but no, he had to pick the most radical idealogue in order to quell the red-meat Teabaggers.

He's really not used to taking advice from anyone. HE'S usually in absolute charge of any organization he's been involved with.
And running for president is NOT a one-man job.

And as a result, his campaign staff is dispirited, confused and sometimes, even ready to revolt.

I think this is why Pawlenty bailed. Smart man.

He's used to being the CEO, not some underling who needs guidance. All the money in the world can't protect him from himself or from his past. They had no way of predicting that Seamus would become a huge story, or that his nasty private school antics would be found out. And they certainly can't force him to show his tax returns.

Sorry, but all the money in the world doesn't preclude higher intelligence. It just doesn't.

And his particular puppet-masters were very good.

Romney thinks he's smart enough to go off-script and to make his own calls. And his puppet-masters just aren't as good as Dubya's, but at least Dubya was compliant. Remember? He even wore an ear-piece at the debates so he could get his lines right.
