If she passed away on January 2, 2021, Moscow Mitch would have her replaced that day. hedda_foil Jul 2020 #5
I am afraid so. She must retire as soon as a Democratic Senate is in place. Blue_true Jul 2020 #9
I hope that she make it past Joe being inaugurated and Schumer leading the Senate. Blue_true Jul 2020 #7

I was just thinking last night, what if she died? How long would the rethugs wait to try to get their fix in? Would they even wait for the funeral? If the senate wasn’t in session how quick till Moscow Mitch would call an emergency session? No lame duck reasons would suddenly matter.

She legend is secure, she is one of the greatest to serve on the Court.

Republicans would relish replacing her. Just like they relished replacing the great Thurgood Marshall with Clarence Thomas.

When that happens, she need to retire effective immediately. She already will go down as one of the greatest Supreme Court Justices in history, there is nothing more for her to prove, IMO.

Joe is going to have a rough first two years undoing the damage that Trump has done. Senate Democrats will have to do some very tough votes to support Joe’s work. We can’t risk a McConnell clone taking over Senate leadership and sitting on a Democratic President’s Court nominee. Justice Ginsberg need to retire while Democrats control the replacement process.
