He was admitted to the hospital April 9. He's back home today!

My bffs son, who Ive written here about a few times, was stricken with Covid and it ravaged him but he survived.

He was intubated, on dialysis, a feeding tube .... now hes on a walker; tires easily with just a few steps; and has a severe bedsore and a very long way back to anything near his former life.

It was touch-and-go as to him coming back at all. His aunt was looking into funeral arrangements at one point.

I attribute the many prayers and well wishes including those expressed here at DU which were conveyed to him to his return home.

Thanks DU.

1. I'm glad he's finally home. Now his family can pamper him--

And love him up!
A long road back, but he's a real fighter.

2. Best wishes for a full recovery

One of the things that sickens me most about the Republican's cavalier attitude to the coronavirus is that they portray those who survive as free and clear for the rest of their lives. Truth is a good portion of survivors will have severe health problems for the rest of their lives. Health problems that will literally haunt them in some way til they die.

I really hope he is able to recover fully. Please keep us updated.

19. indeed - what we still don't know fills volumes

I think it was Spain last week that something like 50% of survivors of severe cases had heart issues lingering.

5. If you don't mind me suggesting this

Can they contact a local newspaper reporter and do an in-depth interview of a before and after type story? Showing pictures of him before and talking about what his life was like. Compared to pictures of him now and what health problems remain and how long his recovery will be.

Drive it home to the maskholes the true cost of their actions. If a few more learn... that's a few less infecting others.

29. Great news that he's at least well enough to go home.

How old is this gentleman?

I know one of the things that is common with Covid "survivors" is one kind of heart issue or another. I don't feel I could withstand one more of those.

2 prosthetic valves (one tissue, one titanium) from Staph A infection in my heart, and I'm still nowhere hear back from where I was in 2009, when it all started. I'll be 68 in 2 weeks, so I'm sure I'll never be all the way back, especially given recent developments.

2 weeks ago, i went in for what turned out to be my final recommended colonoscopy - I can have others voluntarily, but there is no more medical necessity. That went splendidly, but the aftermath was the tale told by the monitor. A pulse of 28BPM is not optimum for peak health, apparently, so a 2 hour procedure turned into 8 days and a pacemaker.

I really identify with this young(?) man and his struggle back. It is NOT easy.

33. Great news. Hoping for a full recovery. This virus can be devastating. Maybe we will defeat it,

despite 45 and his "base."
