I think it is time for our side to leave the streets for a while

Just disappear.

Stand down.

The only people then left in the streets would be the Blackwater Boys in camo, right wing instigators, and agents provocateur. The CamoCrew can gas right wingers and go home.

It seems to me nothing is being accomplished by staying except that Trump gets his raw footage for use in campaign commercials.

This is NOT to say the cause is wrong. It absolutely is not. But I think the tactics need reconsideration.

Flame away.

From anything federal. From what I see a few people are violent ruining the message for the many who are trying to stand up for their beliefs peacefully.

If they stop Trump will take credit for clearing the streets and restoring peace. Ugh!!

this isn't just about BLM and police brutality.....this is about "normalized' racial, ethnic and gender hate.. this is about economic inequality...this is about storm troopers in our streets..this is about a virus that has ravaged and killed our near and dear... this about the total disregard for science and human life...and this is about the incompetent apathetic leadership who allowed this to happen...this is about taking our country back and making it better...

the Vietnam war had claimed so many young lives, 3 of my close friends among them, and my then boyfriend was about to be deployed....our protests were peaceful..police, and probably FBI,were on the sidelines taking our pictures while we were taking theirs...but once the National Guard was called in to "put down" the non existent riots everything turned.. we were clubbed, dragged, and tear gassed, something I will never forget.. bleeding, blinded, choking...the smell and taste of blood and tear gas will be with me forever...and to this day I am convinced the protests would have faded if not for the National Guard doing "their thing"...and then Kent State happened...today it's Portland

I didn't break things. When you break things that aren't yours you cede the moral high ground and give reactionary elements a pretext to crack down.

Protests get results, though. They force power to listen.

...the notion that they want protest is probably true, but that doesn't mean their strategy is going to make their actions appear any more legitimate to Americans.

The footage shows TRUMP'S America, not Democrats', and we need to own the opposition to these fascist tactics, not shrink away from it. Maybe that's too hard for people to get behind, but you really should. It's not only the right thing to do, but it's what Americans standing up against this outrage deserve.

Besides, protestors are making progress. Time to stand tall.
