https://www.huffpost.com/entry/how-quack-doctors-and-powerful-gop-operatives-spread-misinformation-to-millions_n_5f208048c5b66859f1f33148A seemingly obscure Capitol Hill press conference by a fringe group of self-proclaimed medical experts quickly became on Monday the most widely seen propaganda video about the coronavirus since the pandemic began after Breitbart News livestreamed it on Facebook. The post racked up tens of millions of views across social media in a matter of hours, far surpassing the traffic of the infamous Plandemic disinformation video. It grabbed the attention of President Donald Trump and his son Donald Trump Jr., who had his Twitter account partially suspended for sharing a link to the video.
The video featured a string of right-wing talking points that criticized lockdown measures, demonized public health officials, called for schools to reopen and urged Americans not to wear face masks. The speakers, who were all portrayed as doctors, often declared hydroxychloroquine a cure for COVID-19. (No legitimate medical organizations have recognized any cure for COVID-19, and multiple clinical trials have shown hydroxychloroquine is not beneficial in treating the virus.)
One of the main characters in the clip was a religious minister and pediatrician who has previously warned against having sex with demons so at first glance, it would be easy to characterize the video as just another random conspiracy crank finding a massive audience thanks to Facebook.
But in fact, a conservative dark-money group was behind the press event that created this viral propaganda moment. The group featured in the video, Americas Frontline Doctors, sprang from nowhere only days ago and appears connected to groups involved in the Save Our Country Coalition, which was a driving force behind the reopen protests in April that lobbied for Americas rapid reopening, even as death tolls spike in hot spots across the country.

(4,311 posts)Are we sure these are actually legitimate doctors of medicine? With valid diplomas from actual medical schools and the usual successful
completion of training programs as interns and so on?

(9,261 posts)Can peddle the crap she's peddling -- and still sleep at night or keep their license. What is her motivation? How much is "Save Our Country Coalition" paying the suddenly-organized "America's Frontline Doctors" to spout bullshit? Is this part of Trump's hydroxychloroquine money-making scheme -- because he does have one going and has given millions of our tax dollars to Kodak to produce more of the crap. But what happened to all of that same stuff Trump bought with millions of our tax dollars back in April/May? Where did it go? There's a goddamned racket going on there.
And any doctor with any ethics at all would not be involved with any of this.
But you know, Ben Carson is some kind of doctor too. And I guess even doctors can be self-dealing, unethical, vile creatures. After all, they are human.

(5,645 posts)Dr Stella - is a prophet of God to the nations.
Called and trained as a God's Warrior Princess by the Holy Spirit. She is a true spiritual daughter of Dr D.K. Olukoya of Mountain of Fire and Miracles ministries.
She is a successful physician with an active staffed practice in Alexandria, Louisiana. Her attitude toward demonic forces has been described as cut-throat, a warrior to the core . She believes her call as a prophetess is to teach Gods wounded army of believers violent warfare- her motto "the violent taketh it by force"!

(50,566 posts)Like Lash-Lure, Elixir Sulfanilamide and Clark Stanley's Snake Oil Liniment?
Lash-Lure was a "permanent mascara" made out of industrial textile dye. It killed a couple people and maimed many others. This is the product that got makeup added to the Pure Food and Drugs Act.
Elixir Sulfanilamide makes this list because the idiot chemist who invented it thought the sulfanilamide had to dissolve in the liquid. (Liquid drugs given by the spoon are suspensions - you have to shake the bottle before you give it to the patient.) So, he mixed the drug with diethylene glycol, resulting in a preparation that killed everyone who took it without exception. And no, the chemist was not named Trump.
Clark Stanley's Snake Oil Liniment contained no snake products whatsoever. However, it did contain capsaicin, turpentine and camphor - so it probably worked fine.
