PoliticoJoe Biden has a dilemma when it comes to choosing a running mate.
The Democratic presidential nominee wants to pick someone who is like him (or at least the way he saw himself as vice president): loyal, trusted, experienced, apolitical, someone with whom he will bond.
"He's not kidding when he says I really want someone I'm simpatico with someone he can trust," said a close Biden ally. "His experience with Obama was one of genuine closeness and trust."
As Biden conducts a series of interviews with a final list of potential running mates ahead of his August decision, his biggest concern is that there is nobody on his list with whom he has any previous deep relationship.

(115,894 posts)He isn't going to sleep with them, FFS; he just has to feel like he can get along with them. A lot of presidents haven't had "deep relationships" with their running mates before selecting them. Sometimes they didn't even like them.

(1,206 posts)There is no 'Home Run' candidate who checks all the boxes - all have pluses and minuses.
Lots of great choices but no perfect choice - but such is life in the Big City.
This article was interesting as well but from a much different perspective:
"Stories about Bidens choice have put a longstanding sexist narrative back in the news: Ambitious women cannot be trusted."

(25,987 posts)with Biden and his VP choice. This is silly. He has a stellar list of candidates, any one of whom will do a great job. He's not a grade schooler- he knows how to get along with people, how to choose someone he feels comfortable with. This invention of 'problems' is silly.
trump has enough problems to fill a bag of holding, Politico. Why don't you go write about those?

(557 posts)feelings on this. So in my opinion,he should pick whomever he wants and not be boxed in to pick a woman just because he is pressured to. I still hold out hope that he choose Gov Cuomo because he has the built in experience and will be an excellent president. The points going for him is he has already have a platform that many tune in to see daily. He does not back down or play with Trump. He is a fighter and will go as hard as Trump because they are from the same city. He is built in and more than qualified. I also may get flack for what I am about to see,but here goes.
I honestly do not think Biden should have to choose a black woman because the racist will have a ball and it will play right into Trump's plans to tie them to the black live matters and the main ones who hated the black man in the white house will come out for TRump again because they do not want another black anything in the white house. If he has to pick a woman;;big Gretch-Sally Yates. I think Biden knows this because he knows how these racist work better than anyone because he saw what BO went through.JmHO.

(17,712 posts)I know that the Democrats have taken the black vote for granted for way too long and theres a strong feeling that we need a black person for VP to respect that. But I do agree with you but he shouldnt be pressured to choose a black woman. He should pick somebody he can work with and somebody who can run and win, most importantly somebody who would be an excellent president if God forbid its necessary.
Cuomo would be.

(45,561 posts)as the only one he has developed a working relationship with before. Not sure the Benghazi conspiracy attack is going to be as effective this time considering Trump's Russian influence, obvious failures on the pandemic, and jackbooted thugs beating up American moms.

Joe Biden has a dilemma
The Republicans are masters at planting ideas and reinforcing them over and over with talking points and sound alike confusions. They are exceptional at playing the media to get them involved too.
'Has dimentia' and 'has a dilemma' is close enough to reinforce the Republican talking point that Biden is slipping mentally.
This word association is all part of Neuro Linguistic Programming and when done effectively it works. By the way this is what Trump is very effective at doing. The crazier it looks the more access you have to people's deep brain.

(50,318 posts)Joe's got to pick someone who will excite the younger among us who seem - according to reporting - disappointed in not having Obama-level excitement surrounding him. Personally, I'm not looking for excitement, I'm looking for sanity. Any of the people in consideration are exciting enough for me.
