We need to start thinking and saying October 22, rather than November 3. Absentee ballot apps

Last edited Tue Jul 28, 2020, 09:43 AM - Edit history (2)

will be due October 22 in most districts, and anyone who can vote by mail should, to reduce the danger to poll workers and those who must vote in person on November 3.

We also need to submit them - either in person (preferably) or by mail as soon as we can, in order to get the results as soon as possible after November 3 to reduce the effects of any delay tactics Trump might employ, and any lockdowns GOP governors might decide to issue in early November due to a "sudden realization" that this "pandemic is out of control."

October 22 is really the date we take Trump out.

Use drop off box or take directly to election supervisor office for drop off. Don’t take a chance on mail unless no other option. If must use mail have your decisions made & complete and mail back that day or the next. (Assuming you receive ballot early enough to do that.)

We expect to vote by mail again this time and need extra time in case our request goes astray. The address the registrar had for me got a mistake inserted last election, though my husband's, who registered as a Republican (he's not), remained correct. We also intend to be home during early in-person voting. In GA we've learned to cover all bases we can.

Both the ACLA in each state and local Democratic headquarters can answer questions state instructions may be sneakily silent or confusing on. Even in GA we can order and check progress of absentee ballots on line, and correct mistaken addresses, so probably almost all states?

So, October 22: 86 days left to formally apply for absentee (mail-in) ballots in most districts.

peace of mind knowing it's delivered. We'll do it extra early this year!

edit: I just got an email yesterday from the California Secretary of State reminding voters to double-check their registration status. It emphasized confirming your mailing address and signing up for ballot tracking notifications.

and act on your early voting and/or VBM options promptly. Don't risk missing a deadline.

Update yourself on your state and local laws concerning this year's vote and act accordingly.
