No press allowed at Mitt Romney’s $50,000 a head SF Bay Area fundraiser

Source: San Francisco Chronicle

In a week where he’s taking heat for his “47 percent” statements made at a $50,000-a-head fundraiser last May, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney is apparently taking no chances: there will be no press coverage allowed at his $50,000 a head fundraiser at the Strawberry Hill Estate in Hillsborough Friday.

Romney campaign spokeswoman Sarah Pompei informed us via email Wednesday that the Peninsula event is closed to press pools because it takes place at “a private home.”

But that’s decidedly a departure from last May, when the Chronicle published its local pool report, filed at a Romney fundraiser — at another private home in Hillsborough.

... Here’s the full 4-page invite to Romney’s fundraising shindig at the Strawberry Hill estate in Hillsborough Friday. It includes what we previously reported – the full listing of hosts and some amazing perks for various fundraising contributions: (Images at the link)

I imagine they are watching the help carefully. He's to the point where someone he trusts might just sell him out. Why not? He's going down anyway, might as well try and get a recording and cash in.

I'm free Friday so maybe I'll crash the party (checking bus schedules now - I'm one of the 47%).
