I think he is likely just as weary of Trump than anyone else, just like anyone who has counted on Trump’s honest opinion (which is worthless). I am sure that he didn’t bank on Trump being this Stupid and unbalanced.
The treatment Russia will now face after Trumps removal from office will be far worse than any period in the Cold War. They don’t have the GDP to survive a Cold War and heavy sanctions will be from global partners as Biden restores allied relationships and restored intelligence and military agencies will wreak havoc on their military systems. Putin sees and fears this most.
