Same old shit 30 years ago; the press is dishonest, blah blah blah. Barb wasn't having any of it.

(6,106 posts)Shut him up with the facts immediately - do you think you can do it? If not, quit your fucking job.

(20,017 posts)I suppose she knew he would lie his ass off so she talked to the banker and got the facts ahead of time. Bravo!!!
She talked to seven of them.

(20,017 posts)Things were somewhat different 30 years ago before the Fox News era of unbridled bullshit.

(10,054 posts)Trump isn't especially talented or creative with his lies - he just repeats the same lies - so be ready and swat it down when speaks. Like Barbara.

(37,163 posts)...rose in their careers in the age of "access journalism", where stenography and staying in the good graces of political figures was paramount.
Note that I did not refer to these people as "journalists", although they're in slots that should have one.

(4,379 posts)He has always been the same. The American people were warned during the 2016 election and 60 million Americans did not care. They decided to vote for that. A lying corrupt, incompetent asshole.

(7,432 posts)This was on a national news show in 1990. The ability to know what a con artist he is has always been out there but it just never registered with most folks. I don't particularly care for financial or business news, not like political or science news, but even I was hip to Trump's game.

(32,823 posts)I believe by 1990 Chump already had a bankruptcy under his belt, am I right? He was throwing big money into Atlantic City, but none of the casinos had flopped yet. He had already given up on his dream of owning an NFL team. The good citizens of New York had already heard a lot of Chump's self-serving BS by 1990.
I'm sure Barbara Walters came in prepared. She was at the top of her game then.

(21,916 posts)he honestly says the same shit, the same exact words, the same everything that he says today. I never knew he had it in for the press since way back then. He is such a bullshitter. Barbara says he only sees his kids once a week, he says he is a good father, good "provider".
I would like to hear what marla maples has to say but she is under one of those NDAs.

(47,649 posts)More journalists should have done that with him over the years, instead of hanging on his every word and not challenging the absurd things he says. For instance, no credible journalist should have even sat down with him to hear his Obama birth certificate allegations. They all knew he was a clown and a showboater, but they gave him air time anyway. He couldn't have gotten to the White House without their help over the years.

(63,221 posts)He's an even bigger one today and in a position to create more harm to more people, but he is essentially the same person. What I wouldn't give to see someone grill him like that today. Although, I don't think he would remain as calm as he did then. She did a brilliant job!
