I was looking at a story on Yahoo News and I went to the discussion board and found to my surprise:
"Our goal is to create a safe and engaging place for users to connect over interests and passions. In order to improve our community experience, we are temporarily suspending article commenting."
And then I realized I was probably going to type something horrible anyway, but still I wonder what this means. Maybe it's temporary.

(21,155 posts)I didnt know they reinstated them but they were awful then they must be appalling and evil now with the pos in White House and his vile ignorant followers. And dont get me started on the bs cancel culture narrative. I guess political correctness narrative is no longer viable.

(5,255 posts)I sometimes look at Yahoo's main page for a quick digest of news, sports and entertainment stories. And if I ever want to know what the latest Russian meme or forced narrative is, I can check the comments for any political story. However, they are indeed vile and I can't believe it took Yahoo this long to get rid of them. Good riddance to that cesspool. I hope it's permanent.

(14,854 posts)So much inflammatory trolling there!
I wouldn't be surprised if some of it came from Russian trolls and bots. Yahoo had a security breach years ago that was traced back to Russia, if my memory serves me well.
Lots of people had Yahoo mail years ago with no type of identification or verification even required for the account, before switching to other e-mail services. So I'd suspect there were many dormant accounts that got hacked.
Edit: Yep, it was Russians. 3 billion (with a b) accounts were hacked!
