Dr. Anthony Fauci is throwing out the first pitch of the baseball season tomorrow night.

Yeah this is sports but this is a really good article on several aspects of how baseball is going to try to do this. From “horny dudes on the road” to teams quarantining 30 minor leaguers in case they need replacements.

So, they're actually gonna do this, huh?

Yup. At 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, Dr. Anthony Fauci will throw out the first pitch at Nationals Park, and soon thereafter, Max Scherzer will fire the first actual pitch of the 2020 season to leadoff hitter DJ LeMahieu as the reigning champion Washington Nationals host the New York Yankees. Three hours later, Clayton Kershaw will face Johnny Cueto as the World Series favorite Los Angeles Dodgers entertain their rivals, the San Francisco Giants. On Friday, the 26 other teams will play their first of 60 games.

And no spitting is allowed from the players .... which kind of makes it, like, not baseball in a way.

Soccer is playing in empty stadiums in Europe (with piped in crowd noise) while here our soccer league has every in a bubble somewhere in Florida. The NBA has a bubble for the players at Disney. Baseball is going to give it a shot but travel and guys being on the road is an issue. The Toronto Blue Jays are playing in Pittsburgh because Canadian authorities doing want people coming in from the US. This article mentions that local or state officials could shut them down at any time.

It's hard to image him coming near to getting a ball across the plate, but I love it.

and only 5'7".

Actually, my father was only 5'7" and he played basketball throughout high school too. He exercised almost until the day he died at age 100 (religiously doing 20 miles a day on his stationary bike, to which we had removed him, first from the road at 89, and then from the gym at age 97, where he slipped on some ice in the parking lot and broke his hip).

They don’t normally show the first pitch on TV, but since it is the Opening Day game, I hope they do. Plus raising the World Series Flag at Nats Park! I am so bummed at missing this and the ring ceremony. We have partial season tickets and would otherwise be there but for the virus.

Trump wouldn’t go. He’s too afraid he’d look like a fool...because he is a fool.
