Having our Ambassador ask for a deal for the President's personal business is specifically against the Constitution.

But we are no longer a nation of Laws.
No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.[3]

(2,227 posts)The turd only had two reasons to even think about running for the presidency.
To make money off of it, even though that is strictly forbidden (and we see how well THAT "law" is enforced), and
To please Putin, who's sole purpose is to get back at Hillary, AND do his best to destroy the USofA.
The turd needs to be RICO'd for money laundering, and Putin needs to have so many sanctions put on him he can't even take a piss.

Worse, they made it clear they would never enforce it against their own.

(7,403 posts)The Office of Legal Counsel that says a sitting President cannot be indicted for federal crimes committed while they are in office. Impeachment is the only crime a President is subject to while in office. I believe the Supreme Court chipped away at that letter with the Manhattan case. It makes no sense that a sitting President could be charged in State court but not Federal court. Besides, President Clinton had to testify in the Paula Jones case so the OLC letter doesn't have much of a foundation.
But there can be no question this is an impeachable offense. The Founders would tar and feather him for this.

It's always been this way, though. People of principle drag the rest forward with them.

Biden needs something similar. He's gonna have to juggle multiple balls at once.
(Why is it that the Dems always end up being the ones who pull America's chestnuts out of the fire?)
