I am so fed up with the MSM.

Granted, for them it's all about which stories are "news-worthy" because they generate ad revenue, but really, do they have to jump on every distraction the current regime unloads on us?

A few days ago I was thinking about starting a YouTube channel, a "back door news" kind of thing to cover the stuff the MSM isn't covering. No spin, no opinion, no talking heads telling us what to think. Just plain facts. Like is anyone in Congress looking into the Russian bounty story? Like, is the shooting outside a funeral home in Chicago, just days after 45 threatened to send the Gestapo out there a coincidence? Maybe it was, but the question lingers. There are lots of sources out there for information.

Unfortunately, I know it could never happen. You need to be objective to do this, and I take this shit too personally and would probably end up living on antidepressants and anger-management stuff.

I had a call the other day from a long-time friend who's a Republican. We don't talk politics, but discovered we both detest all those talking heads telling us what to think. Which is why we don't spend our time on them.

(the MSM) deciding what should be covered in that very short 30 minute to one hour news slot of the day/week. A very limited amount of time and in today's world w/ literally everything in arm's reach of everything else, it's easy to overwhelm the news cycle literally everyday. A person in today's environment has many choices in what to listen too, for their news (or anything else). Thus, any efforts by some nefarious MSM entity would be a moot point as all one would have to do, is simply turn off the TV or radio, or flip the channel.

Everyone knows why Trump restarted the Task Force Meeting (sans anyone else on the Task Force but him). He read something that was scripted for him. Did an awful job of reading it. Didn't sound sincere with anything he was saying.

We know that this was just a move to get in front of a camera as a campaign stunt for his re-election.

The WH issues a statement afterwards about how well accepted his briefing was and what a fine job he did.

What did the MSM say? They bought it hook, line and sinker and said - Oh - the President did a good job and he has changed his tone and is now behind wearing a mask. And because he indicated that things will probably get worse before they get better - he's suddenly acknowledging how serious this crisis is and that's good. What a great guy he is for doing this and we want more of that.

Now that's what I call 'gullible'.

Next thing we'll hear is that his poll numbers went up because of this briefing.

I'm so sick of all this enabling of him - by his handlers in the WH; by the Repugs in Congress; and the talking heads and newscasters in the MSM.

The MSM 'aids and abets' this criminal and they need to shoulder the blame for the deteriorating situation this country is in. They never challenge him to any extent. They're afraid to ask him the hard questions and equally hard follow-up questions. They let him get away with murder - whether it be Covid-19 related deaths due to his incompetence. Attacking peaceful protesters. Or letting Russia pay bounties on the heads of our soldiers.

He doesn't even have to show up on 5th avenue. He can do his killing right from the WH.

the advertising dollars dictate a lot of what is shown and said on the air and in print.

About 15 years ago, I wrote what would be my first (and last) letter to the editor to the local paper. I was complaining about a decision made by a councilwoman who also advertised her business in the paper each day of the week. It's a small ad, but they appreciate the dollars just the same.

Having previously been a middle-school English teacher, I was confident that my prose was sufficient. The editors, however, had other ideas and published a letter that could have come from a "less-than-gifted" third grader.

I was humiliated and enraged at their infantile and deliberate bastardization of my opinion.

One line they omitted referred to the councilwoman and people of similar ideology as being "political pedophiles". (Maybe they were still in the Literal Stage of Development.) Then I remembered my underclassmen days, when teaching majors were required to have a B average, while journalism students only needed a C average. This lesser standard attracted a lot of the student-athletes and several students from the other majors who weren't up to the challenge.

I'll watch the MSM "product", but then I come to DU to get Paul Harvey's "rest of the story".

The television in our house plays Netflix and DVDs. That's pretty much all it does.

My wife and I read our news and opinion.

I think television is the worst possible medium for news and opinion. Television partially bypasses the parts of our brains where critical thinking skills reside.
