Trump and the Republicans may have made another big mistake.

My local news is reporting small towns, cities are having budget short falls. The mayor of a small city near me is predicting a million dollar short fall. That means people will be laid off. This must be happening to small towns and cities across the country.

Months ago Cuomo warned Trump about this. The Democrats passed the cares act a couple of months ago. I believe it addressed this issue. The Republicans went home and now at last minute they trying to figure out what to do. It may too late in some cases. The damage may be already done to the budgets of small towns and cities across America.

Some things just can't wait, you know what I mean. If you delay giving aid it could cause problems that take longer to fix.

Republicans are really good at creating economic disasters, they suck at fixing them.

the Rethugs and Trump have been writing checks they can not cash for last four years.

The Pink Slips will be flying by this time next week. And it will be in the Tens of Thousands. City and State Budgets usually expire September and October first.

The last minute action is on purpose. Don't be surprised if the Republicans come through with more money for voters than anybody expects. My guess is they will wait as long as they can, announce they are giving even more than the Democrats wanted and that any delay was all the Democrats fault. I think the Democrats should one up them. If they say they are going to give $2000 checks the Democrats say no it needs to be at least $2500. If the Republicans keep the $600 on unemployment then the Democrats should push to lock it in for a longer period of time or for more money or with a higher cap.

Mitch thinks that if he waits until the last second, he can force a lot of crap into the bill and convince Speaker Pelosi to go along with it. I think she will in her delightfully polite way, tell him to go F*** himself! She ain't playing.

but lacks the know how of how it works.

Reading history concerning the USA's economy, I came across this fact. Overall, the Republicans ar horrible especially when it comes to the economy. They fuck it up, then the cleaning crew (Democrats) come in.

Rinse and repeat . . .

republicans lack the ability to keep the country safe also.

The obvious example is their steadfastness that low taxes on the wealthy trigger prosperity.
The data clearly show otherwise.
And, interpreting data is how one learns what works macroeconomically.
But, they can't & won't do that, so they're still ignorant as to how things work.

The poverty and economic hardship are the point. They want a feudalistic society but have to give in occasionally to retain power. If Trump can become a dictator they will be thrilled as they won't have to worry about elections anymore and can stop giving even the little bit they currently give.

I believe that many of them know exactly what their policies do to the economy and how they affect both the rich and everyone else. I don't give them any "I didn't know" wiggle room. The suffering and wealth disparities are the point - to them anyone not in the 0.01% is vermin and needs to learn their place. If a bunch of us die off from starvation, malnutrition, homelessness, and lack of health-care, so be it. The ones who survive will have learned their lesson.

I'm convinced these people really think making the rich richer is good economic policy.
That's completely wrong. Ergo, they're ignorant of how the economy, at this scale, works.
Think of this: did this economy get this big in the 20th century because all the money filtered up?
No, TR and trust busting actually distributed huge amounts of money laterally and down.
Reducing taxable value in the 20s got us a depression.
FDR & Truman raised taxes (especially Truman) and after ww2 this economy became the biggest in the world by a huge margin.
JFK lowered top rates, but eliminated many loopholes. So revenues went up.
Same with Clinton & Obama.
I say they're ignorant because they really do want the big, booming economy (even if for the benefit of their big $ donors) but are clueless how the economy got so successful and vibrant in the first place.

but I also think that many of them don't care if making the rich richer is good economic policy. They do not care how making the rich richer impacts the non-rich as long as they can keep getting richer. To them a booming economy is a high stock market, high dividends, higher productivity, and higher profits for them. Anyone who is not rich is not part of the economy for them but is a disposable resource. Squeezing as much profit as they can out of human workers is no different to them than getting as many board feet as possible from a tree they cut down.

They are like any other dictator who loots a country.

Because they then must not care if the super rich, get to stay super rich.
There is utter ignorance on display if they fail to realize continuing to reduce buying power of the 99% is bad for the 1%.
Finally, there have been richer Americans adjusted to GDP than all but Bezos & Gates. (I'm including backs Gates' donations & foundations). But, most were created when monopolies were banned.
More readily available information.
The buying into a curve, so thoroughly debunked that Latter himself admitted it doesn't really work that way, is a function of willful ignorance.
They've got a philosophy that is consistently contradicted by the data. Yet, they don't change.
That meets the definition of willful ignorance.
You & I are in complete agreement as to the flaws in their thinking.
But, you want to apply willful evil, and I ascribe to it abject stupidity.
It's not like either of us is paying any compliments!

The Republican trick is they screw up everything and when the Democrats have to fix it they are forced to do things that hurt people in the short run. That way they Republicans can use that in the next election to try and convince people to put them back in power. I am convinced that most people don't realize to the elite politics is a game. The main part of that game is to use propaganda to get the middle and lower classes fighting with each other so the don't pay any attention to the fact they are getting screwed by the economic elites. My view is anytime I here something from the political class I ask these questions 1) who will benefit from this 2) Who are they trying to influence 3) Do those that will be hurt have enough power to do anything about it 4) What narrative are they trying to set up for the future.

Keep tight strings on pandemic aid until it helps the Republican cause. Looks like one big quid pro quo, or in simple words, a great big blackmailing scheme.

And blue states can't continue the annual handouts because of the Trump Virus. So small towns are up the proverbial creek.
