He doesn't strike me as a happy corrupt betrayer. Maybe the chips he's undoubtedly trying to cash in aren't as lucrative a career step as he expected. Two years in the minority party wouldn't put him in good position when the question's asked, "But what's he done for us lately?" Nada.
