Poll: Harris, Warren top list of VP picks among Democratic voters

Democratic voters list Sens. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) as their top picks for vice president, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.

Twenty-three percent of Democratic voters say they want presumptive Democratic nominee and former Vice President Joe Biden to choose Harris as his running mate.

Twenty-two percent say the same of Warren.

The two former Democratic candidates for president also top the list among all registered voters in the July 20-21 poll.

1. Warren as VP would be a risk for the Senate. GOP governor appoints temporary replacement

Not sure we can afford to lose a seat, even temporarily

2. I think Biden and Democrats are clever enough to recognize this. I have faith in their abilities

with the basics. They say there is a way to do it. If there is not, or if there is even a chance they cannot get a Dem, then I am sure Biden and all the really smart Democrats will not choose Warren.

And he is the sitting governor. Mass did elect Scott Brown, so it's not like this isn't in the realm of a possibility. It's definitely not worth the risk.

8. If Joe's age is seen as a point of vulnerability....

Then Warren's age would only amplify it. Joe needs a a running mate with attack dog instincts and Warren just doesn't fit that bill like Kamala can. I love Warren the Senator as much as anyone.

But anyone in touch with reality can't ignore the fact that Warren the Candidate severely underperformed on the national stage. She didn't come close to competing for the top spot in any primary and couldn't even win her own state.

Many will say that Harris didn't perform well either, but still I think she'll have much more appeal on a national ticket than Warren ever could.

Just my opinion and I can certainly understand if some here would disagree with my assessment.

10. I Think It Has To Be Harris

This year's VP can't just be someone to balance the ticket. She has to be someone who has the potential to step in and be President in 2024, if not sooner. She has to be tough, experienced, and ready to hit the ground running. For me, that can ONLY be Kamala Harris.

Honestly, if it's NOT Kamala Harris, I think it will ONLY be because the extensive vetting they do on all the potential running mates turned up something.

I'm sure I'll be absolutely fine with whoever it is, and I trust the campaign to pick the right person, but for my money, it's gotta be Harris. Plus, Biden-Harris just SOUNDS like a winning ticket. I can practically see the yard signs and bumper stickers now, and they're FIRE.

They will vote for Biden no matter who is VP. It’s getting swing voters and other groups that are unsure about Biden or may not be that excited about him to come out and vote for the ticket.
