<snip>
There are reports of power outages and downed trees after a line of severe storms moved through southern Ontario on Sunday.
The storms prompted Environment Canada to issue tornado warnings for some areas after cells showed signs of rotation, though its unclear if a tornado actually did touch down.
All tornado warnings have since been lifted.
Around 12:45 p.m., Hydro One said their crews were responding to outages affecting over 30,000 customers.
Southwestern and central [Ontario] have been hit the hardest, and our teams are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible, a tweet from the company read.

(65,078 posts)Got about 2 inches of rain in a half hour.
NE Illinois. Ran right along I-80 for about 90 miles.
Lightening show, 30mph winds and buckets of rain.
But, per the news, no rotation.
I've been to Ontario many times, all seasons.
I never was in threatening weather though.
Not sure if tornadoes are common or not.

(269,063 posts)On average, there are around 80 confirmed and unconfirmed tornadoes that touch down in Canada each year, with most occurring in Southern Ontario, the southern Canadian Prairies and southern Quebec. Canada ranks as the country with the second most tornadoes per year, after the US.
