Missouri governor says he'd pardon St. Louis couple if they are charged for brandishing guns at prot

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson (R) suggested on Friday that he was prepared to pardon a St. Louis couple if charges were filed against them for brandishing firearms at a group of protesters outside their home.

Speaking on "The Marc Cox Morning Show" on 97.1 FM in St. Louis, Parson was asked about an investigation circuit attorney Kim Gardner launched into Mark and Patricia McCloskey. The two were seen in widely shared footage from June pointing guns at a group of protesters who were walking down their street as part of a demonstration.

The McCloskeys claimed in a police report that they felt threatened by the demonstrators and feared that they would assault them or destroy their property. But Gardner said that she would look into the events, noting at the outset of her probe that "we will not tolerate the use of force against those exercising their First Amendment rights."

Parson strongly pushed back against the impetus for the investigation, saying that the McCloskeys "did what they legally should do."

STLMO and I think that the governor is a gun nut/freak, wouldn't matter what color the person welding the gun would be. It would be the guns that are more important to the idiotic governor than anything else.

Lawyers, with a criminal record & a known, politically motivated pardon.
What could go wrong in that profession?

wipe out a criminal record, as least as far as the offense being pardoned?

And if the case never goes to trial, there's no criminal conviction.

Nor Oliver North.
It just eliminates the sentence and restores some rights.
This is from DOJ:

While a presidential pardon will restore various rights lost as a result of the pardoned offense and should lessen to some extent the stigma arising from a conviction, it will not erase or expunge the record of your conviction

it was a commutation and not a pardon. I don't remember what happened with North.

Also, if a pardon is issued before a criminal conviction and stops judicial action, then there is no conviction.

number 1 and everybody else in the state is wrong about responsible gun ownership. Idiots. I don't mind responsible gun ownership, its the running immediately after one's guns and threatening to use them so quickly when they even remotely feel threatened (even when they are not in reality threatened).

would charge these two w/ some sort of crime, maybe simple assault or the like, threatening the protesters who were simply walking on the sidewalk, past their home, on the way somewhere else. These two idiots (touting the guns) were idiots and could have caused some crap over literally nothing. Have a trial with a jury of the city's peers, and let us judge for ourselves just how reckless these two idiots were. I got a feeling that they won't unfortunately, being that's it is gotten so political. Ridiculous.

into the governorship and he's proven to be a typical political hack, slow on fighting the CV (it is a hoax!), and is shepherding the fast and rapid spread of the CV in MO by following the idiotic directives from the rump WH.

Parsons will never ever get elected. He's been a worthless governor and proves it on a daily basis with his licking of trump's shoes.
