The invasion in Portland is primarily involving CBP officers from the BORTAC (equivalent of SWAT) team. Wikipedia says CBP has 45,000 sworn agents and officers, of which approx. 21,000 are officers. Of those 21,000, Only 220 CBP officers are currently Active on the BORTAC team.

The other federal service being used in the Portland invasion is the US Marshalls Special Operations Group. The US Marshalls has approx. 4,000 sworn deputies, of which only a small portion are SOG trained.

Portland is a city of 650,000, and I’m guessing there are maybe a few dozen federal agents wreaking havoc in this invasion. This quote is attributed to Ken Cuccinelli, a long time GOP operative. I believe he was one of The RWNJ’s pushing the illegal immigrant voting fraud nonsense after Trump lost the popular vote.

They can try to “take this nationwide”, and while they may succeed in terrorizing some communities, with limited resources and growing outcry, it’s bound to fail. The more cities they try to invade, the more Trump’s poll numbers will drop.

Like I said in another post, I’d like to see them try to invade and control the streets of Chicago, or L.A., or Detroit, or Atlanta...

1) CBP includes about 25,000 Customs Officers and about 21,000 Border Patrol Agents.

2) About 220 Border Patrol Agents are full time Agents who have received BORTAC training. They typically serve BORTAC duties 2-3 days a month. Their most active role would be working back up with local agencies (hostage/violent felon warrant) or a joint DEA /task Force on a raid on a house that is known cartel with heavy arms.

BORTAC is usually only used in the Border Patrol area when an agent has been assaulted and they are trying to pursue the attacker.

3) Customs also has tactical force of about 6-8 at major ports and they spend a few days a month suited up as a show of force/training at airports and ports but have never heard of them leaving port designated areas.

Border Patrol also has a search and rescue unit.


Your general point is spot on, there are very few tactically trained agents/officers and if they were to take half of them it wouldn't give them enough to "takeover" 2 Portland's.

It takes about a year from selection, training, certification and signing new contracts besides there isn't a great incentive for existing Agents/Officers to sign up. It's not a great career booster and would interrupt most skilled sub categories like mounted, prosecution, communication, K9, etc.
