FLIPPABLE: Mike Pellicciotti for Washington State Treasurer

Representative Mike Pellicciotti (pelly-chotty) has always put the needs of working families and retirees first. He has made Washington State government more transparent and more in service to the people. He now wants to do the same to state finances as your State Treasurer.

Mike is one of the few Washington State elected officials who has never accepted campaign donations from corporations. He will be an independent State Treasurer who will stop the practice of state treasurers investing your tax dollars in the same corporations that fund their political campaigns. And unlike his opponent, Mike does not support Donald Trump for President.

Mike has the broad experience needed to address today’s complicated legal financial issues. He will lead the State Treasurer’s Office through the range of economic development, legislative, legal, constitutional, and national policy issues affecting our state finances and economic recovery. As State Treasurer, Mike will put working families’ and retirees’ needs first. He has served on legislative fiscal committees, including the House Capital Budget Committee, and is a respected and independent voice on stewarding public funds responsibly.

As the state representative for North Pierce and South King Counties in the legislature, Mike successfully introduced and passed into law legislation to get “dark money” out of politics, to modernize laws and increase financial penalties for corporate crime, and to require greater campaign finance transparency by political action committees.

He championed open government laws and was the first legislator to call on the legislature to make legislators’ records available to the public, while also voluntarily disclosing his own. Mike has also introduced legislation to fix property valuations so that Washingtonians do not overpay their taxes. He has successfully advocated to end corporate tax breaks, while reducing taxes on working families and retirees.

Before joining the legislature, as an Assistant Attorney General, Mike managed a state unit of financial examiners, auditors, and analysts that returned over $30 million dollars to taxpayers from financial fraud and government waste. Mike also served our state as the Chair of the Washington Equal Justice Coalition, advocating for the rights of renters and homeowners unlawfully foreclosed upon, veterans denied benefits, and predatory loan victims.

Mike received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and was then selected as a United States Fulbright Scholar to study economic development. He obtained a Masters in Rural Development, and is committed to the economic recovery of all of Washington. While at Gonzaga Law School, he led a national initiative to reduce student loan debt for those in public service and later served on the Board of Regents of Gonzaga University.
