I wonder what regular cops think of DHS, CBP cops?

Homeland security positions like at airports are pretty much the bottom of federal jobs. I can’t help but think their police aren’t much better and the border patrol seems to be a haven for racists. It sure seems like these are being used by trump as his private police force.

In the last four years, my wife, a tall, blonde German citizen, has been unfairly and unnecessarily detained as suspicious by 3 CBP officers, two who were white and American-born, and one who was black and foreign-born.

The lame excuses were, in chronological order were:
1. Atlanta--her stays would have made 89 days within 180. Ninety days are allowed without a special visa. The CBP idiot noted that her stay would make it 89 days. We said yes, than you, we know, we can count. That was very close to 90, which made her suspicious. Detention for over an hour. Then she came before a supervisory panel, who looked at her ticket, passport, rolled their eyes, and said, sorry for that. You're fine, good-bye."

2. Atlanta again--the CBP idiot says her fingerprints don't match. We informed him that these are the same fingers that were on her hand the last 50 times she had entered the USA. He insisted they didn't match--detention for supervisor revision. Instead of returning to his post, the guy disappears for a coffee break. We just provided him the excuse to take it. Almost an hour later, again the call from the supervisory panel. They look at the notes of the first guy, roll their eyes, apologize, and send us on our way.

3. Boston, two weeks ago. No comment, no explanation, just "I'm holding her passport, someone will be here shortly to get you." Indeed, someone was. He took us to a special room only accessible if you had a special electronic key. There were about 7 CBP guys there twiddling their thumbs, bored out of their minds. One of them asked us a few routine questions, played with his computer for a while, stamped her passport and said bye-bye. The first guy could have done this, too, of course, but I guess they wanted to demonstrate that they were defending our weak borders, or something.

I actually got to tell the head of CBP about it--Obama's head of CBP--but that was 20 says before he had to leave office, and he said at that point, nothing he could do would have any effect on procedure.

Over the years I've had several state criminal cases dismissed because the Feds involved in the case refused to make themselves available for interviews. The state cases arose from Fed investigations that uncovered crimes, just not Federal crimes. The Feds wouldn't even return calls to the prosecutors.
