I always argued that Hillary devoted too much time to bashing Trump than attempting to improve her own favorables. Just think back to that interview with the deplorables line. If she hadn't been thinking along the lines of ripping Trump then that theme/line never would have occurred to her, and she's likely president today.
I've hosted too many debate watching parties not to understand that female candidates are not well received when they go on the negative.
BTW, it was 18% in 2016 who disliked both candidates. I would expect a lower number this time, but I didn't check the poll in question.
