Friend had to go to ER last night, Barton Nurse said they only have 12 beds left! This is not showing up on the County info. ALSO - El Dorado County FOUGHT The Governor order to close back up...and they won!
she took a pic of the room she was in, the door taped shut, they had a double entry on the side of the room, NO patients in rooms separated by curtains, everything is sealed and locked down. Radiologist was in tears, two of her coworkers are home SICK with this shit right now!
I am going to email my county district supervisor and ask her WHY they refuse to shut things back up
ALSO: Saw on a Tahoe Instagram page (unfortunately faces and names scratched out) A family posted they had a member test positive and instead of quarantine at home they came to tahoe because it's "nicer" and that they were so happy to be outside and enjoying dining outdoors etc...They were from Mill Valley, CA
I'm terrified and angry...to say the least

(15,115 posts)Marin County is likely going to be hard hit. San Quentin is a hotbed of cases and the people who work there will carry the virus outside the gates. Doubtful many of them live close by (very expensive real estate!), but they will still be possible spreaders.
Sorry to hear about Tahoe. Take care of yourself.

(21,675 posts)Where lots of Quentin guards live as it's (relatively) cheaper. I can see Vallejo getting hit hard.

(21,768 posts)They have opened a separate facility just for people with Covid symptoms.
And I still see very few masks, maybe 30%.

(65,061 posts)Edwardsville & Champaign region look to be the only areas here with less than 40% available ICU beds still open.
Rest of the state looks to be 45-65% availability.
That hospital, as bad as it is, seems an outlier.

(21,768 posts)So available resources are surely a factor, although we do have a pretty high rate of infection here.

(65,061 posts)...central Illinois has the lowest positivity rate of the 4.
NE is 4%, N Ctrl is 4%, Southern is 5%, and central is 2%.
It's a drag that your area is harder hit!
Our county was pounded early, but things are much more under control now.
Deaths have actually hit zero a few days, and 2 or fewer more often.
We had 8-10 a day for a while.
I think the total is 3 hundred & something.

(65,061 posts)I go to supermarket, and all staff & customers are 7 to 8 out of 8 wearing a mask.
Some idiot drones refusing, but a small fraction.
That said, local newspaper says schools are opening 100% next month.

(21,768 posts)Talked to a fellow on our School Board, and he says this whole thing is overblown and he's not worried at all about it.
Now that is a recipe for failure.
Talked to a teacher of 25 years, and she went to a planning meeting. She tells me that there is essentially no plan. She told me she doesn't think she will go back to work, and she is not the only one. She has family of her own she is responsible for. Luckily for her, she has a supportive husband with good income.

(13,360 posts)The hospital needs to have the overflow tents etc set up in the parking lots NOW, not later...
Out today in town, had to stop ONCE...still not looking like masks are the norm.
Not sure if the bit about inside dining etc is being ignored, some of those places looked closed
we shall see I guess...All we can do is try and stay safe. Both my teens work with the public and we as a family have decided to test regularly...IF the results can come back in a reasonable time frame. Son got tested Saturday and we still have no results.
