Downtown Asheville NC., Standing out in front of our building, when this dude drives by and yells at a group of masked tourists that they dont need to wear masks. He then drives around the block and yells the same thing at us. We yelled at him that he was wrong and just shut up. He came back again, yelling something about a hoax. Told him we live here and please get the fuck out of our neighborhood.
Crazy..
My neighbor has surfaced 500 miles away in North Carolina

(4,483 posts)because they are echoing what Trump is saying, that they feel like their views represent everyone else's views, too. They don't understand that they are the whackos. At any other time in our history, they would not have had the guts to behave like this in public. I'm glad people are yelling back at them, but I worry that the nutjobs are going to start shooting, believing that they represent the will of the people.
I have neighbors who proudly display Trump signs, yet I worry about putting a Biden bumper sticker on my car for fear of retaliation. Who told them they could be as loud and crude as they want to be, and we have to behave nicely and tolerate their shenanigans with a smile? I'm tired of being the polite one.

(37,161 posts)This kind of behavior has been steadily ratcheting up since when Trump was building to-be-bankrupted casinos in Atlantic City. Each new level of self-righteous outrage becomes the starting point for the next.
it crossed my mind afterward that I live in the south and he was the sort that might well have a gun.
Though I actually think he was under the delusion that he was helping people. A Good Samaritan..

Solution: North Carolina BBQ sandwich and a Cheerwine!
Alternate solution: Basket of fried catfish at the nearest fish camp.

(1,990 posts)Because one single individual called it a "hoax". One single person. That's where we are folks - millions of people willing to pretend a virus isn't real because they can't admit they threw a racial hissy-fit and voted for a con man.
I don't know that we make it past this.

(60,015 posts)Line of 5 mask wearers appropriately distanced. Older woman, unmasked, barged in and cut to the front of the line. I told her we were in line, distanced. She started yelling at me saying it was a hoax. I asked her about the 130K plus families who lost loved ones. She screamed they are calling all deaths COVID. Others started to support me. She left in a huff. Wow. My first experience with that ..

(5,725 posts)Masks are mandatory at work now. Still had six (!!) confrontations with no-maskers yesterday. Two complied, one performed a clown act ( "Oooo, don't want you to catch the flooooo!" ) and walked away, fourth wanted to fight. Me: "Where's your mask?" Him: "In my pocket--where it belongs!!" Me: "Can you put it on, please?" Him (now maddogging me): "No!!" ( The lead showed up and hustled me to another work area. ) The last two I just walked away from and avoided.
I told a supervisor that this isn't a meat-packing plant in a red state; I won't be herded into a death trap just because these clowns are insecure about their genitals and management is too spineless to enforce.

(16,172 posts)had a t storm and a leak in the roof. roofer showed up and rang the door buzzard (ha), I was masked up and as soon as he saw me the said, "I'll be right back" went to his truck and put a mask on, came back and apologized for not having his on initially.
btw, it was a service call on an almost 2 year old shingle roof. No charge to take care of it.
