US to restrict border crossings for another month
The Trump administration is set to extend restrictions on non-essential travel across the U.S. borders with Mexico and Canada at least until late August amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
An administration official confirmed to Politico that "It's an almost certainty" that the administration will announce before July 21 that non-essential travel with the neighboring countries will be restricted for at least another 30 days.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany told reporters Monday that the administration had "no announcements now for our plans with Canada."
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday said a decision on the border closure will be announced "in the coming days."
