No matter how crappy the product, they have to keep trying to sell it or they make no money.

(19,074 posts)Live here in Grand Rapids, not a single adult here hasn't hear the Amway pitch. It's a pyramid scheme and long ago the founders of Amway realized that paying a team of lawyers to fight it in court to stay in business was good money to invest. This company has ripped off millions of people, most of whom don't even realize they were ripped off.

(35,699 posts)The bottoms of all of the pots warped, making them useless because all of the heat was concentrated in the middle of the pan, burning the shit out of anything you were cooking, unless you just wanted to boil water. Supposedly we could have gotten a free replacement for the warped pots, but why?

(19,074 posts)Their products are terrible. And as an engineering student I toured their production facilities in Ada, MI, and boy was that the most amateur setup I've seen in my life. Their factories were dark, dangerous, inefficient, and cheap. There were leaking pipes everywhere, cleaning solution flowed like rivers on the floor so much so that they built bridges for people to walk over the spilled chemicals. Never seen anything like it.
Those 2 families are really something else, the Calvinism mindset come to its full fruition. They literally preach that poor people are poor because they are sinners and rich people are rich because they are virtuous and god favors them.

(8,054 posts)that Amway could help pay for college. All I had was student loans, and money that could "grow a business" sounded like ....well, too good to be true. Only us suckers fell for it.
I counted the money I lost doing that as "tuition" for hard lessons, and moved on.
DeVos has been "educating" suckers for a very long time, and now she's head of education. Irony of ironies.
