Coronavirus herd immunity may be 'unachievable' after study suggests antibodies disappear after weeks in some people
Fourteen percent of people who previously tested positive for antibodies tested negative just weeks later.
The study suggests people who experience mild symptoms do not have long-lasting protection.
"Immunity can be incomplete, it can be transitory, it can last for just a short time and then disappear," Raquel Yotti, the director of Spain's Carlos III Health Institute, said.

[Ian] Jones [a professor of virology at the University of Reading] added: "Anyone who tests positive by antibody test should not assume they are protected. They may be, but it is not clear."

(15,651 posts)5. Antibody tests are notoriously inaccurate and unreliable
And extremely dependent on time of administration. Over 200 different tests kits available.
Up to 30% false negative results.

(30,613 posts)7. Agreed. Also, your body remembers how to make fresh ones when challenged.
This story has been resurfacing for months; nobody ever mentions the rest of the picture.

Repeating your sentence:
What this also means is that a vaccine may/will not work.
DH & I have been discussing this for days now & what it means for society & the economies.
Conclusion: we must continue to isolate, wear masks, & be damn careful. Darwin's laws will rule.

I think that is our fastest ticket out of this mess.
