(26,045 posts)...that I reflexively unbuckle my seatbelt for the next couple of miles every time I see one of those signs.
So I don't think it will have much of an effect.
are you being serious?

(153,174 posts)my dad knew better than to warn a teenager about death, when advising to buckle up......he'd say IMAGINE LIVING WITH A HEAD INJURY and knowing I would not have that if I had just buckled up......that did the trick

(54,426 posts)It has to be considered in the context of a time when a requirement to fasten a seatbelt was a novelty.
It still sounded better than "put it on or we'll clean you out."

(5,727 posts)Thankfully, I've been able to steer well clear of the ones who don't, so there hasn't been any argument with management...yet.
My supervisor: Nothing. Not even faking it. Acts like he wants someone to say something.
My lead: Face shield (turned up); mask (on chin). Why even fucking bother, you stupid bastard.
Union shop stewards: Last seen spreading misinformation about "trapped second-hand air" and "masks don't work." Idiots.
My six primary co-workers, Thursday: Four masked (some intermittently), two with nothing.
Me: Cloth mask on top of gaiter--and they don't leave my face until I get home, except to eat lunch.
The kicker is, I work the bagroom of an international airport--possibly the hottest "hot spot" outside of a wet market or a meat packing plant. We finally got emails today "clarifying" mask requirements inside AND outside the passenger-accessible areas; previous messages said they were only required inside. Did someone think COVID-19 gets stopped at the security checkpoints, then finally change their mind?
Now let's see if this new requirement is actually enforced. There's supposed to be a big fine for violations...but when management is stomping around all day without even a mask in "facelift" mode, I don't have a lot of faith.

(54,426 posts)But when it's a life-or-death situation (and no one can tell you in advance if it isn't), you gotta be nuts to not wear it. Do these people (who refuse) think that everyone with a mask is a fan of Hannibal Lecter, or what?

Maybe the irony is lost on Texans though, I'm not sure.

(54,426 posts)Our office (we recently moved) has a mask requirement so stringent that refusing to wear it while on the premises has been declared as grounds for dismissal.
Some employee (I didn't recognize the name) even put up a Facebook post singing the praises of his/her employer (i.e. us) for being so thorough, understanding, and employee-friendly. During the worst in late March-Mid April, we furloughed about 15% of the workforce, but fired no one, kept everyone on health insurance, and planned to do for way longer than ended up being necessary. When we had our first confirmed positive test of an employee for COVID-19, we tested everyone on-site in Dallas twice. The first time turned up 3 new positive results, the second round, 8 more. That makes a total of 12 out of about 450, and everyone that CAN work from home is doing so.
